When Actor/Singer Scott Raneri was pondering a theme for his New York Solo Cabaret Debut Show, he decided to go back to his roots-literally. Last December, Raneri registered to take a DNA test with the ubiquitous genetic testing company 23andMe. Raneri wanted to learn more about his ancestry and his health profile. When he found he was a genetic match with a cousin he didn't know he had, that led to a more startling discovery-that his grandfather was NOT the man who was married to his grandmother, but was a family friend named Butch Marzo. Hence, the show's title.

Singer Kristin Chenoweth was a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote her new album 'For the Girls.' During the interview, Cohen asked Chenoweth if she's heard from Barbra Streisand since doing a cover of Streisand's song a?oeThe Way We Were.a??

For her 4th CD release, vocalist/violinist Calabria Foti wanted to do an album like her vocal heroes did back in the day; that is, with a big orchestra and legendary arrangers on the podium in an iconic Hollywood recording studio. Ms. Foti says, “This is the most expansive project I have ever done, and at the same time, it's the most intimate and personal. I recorded at Capitol Records with a full orchestra, singing some of the most endearing, sentimental songs ever written, all for my loved ones. This album is a full-production tear-jerker!”

Actress/dancer/singer Sandy Bainum proved once again on Sunday November 10 that she can do it all. It was the premiere of her new cabaret show Ever Blondeward at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal. In the show she payed tribute to great celebrity blondes like Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Mitzi Gaynor, Marilyn Monroe and Betty Hutton, among others, who left their mark on the world as great entertainers. The sold out house were enchanted by Bainum, who is not only beautiful but a glorious singer and raconteur.

In a combined triumph for the Classic Popular Songbook, its purveyors and adherents, and the professionalism and perseverance of THE MABEL MERCER FOUNDATION, the unique organization presents its 30th Annual New York Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, beginning Monday, October 28th and running through Thursday, October 31st. On Nov. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m., Stacy Sullivan returns to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in a portrait of the gifted singer-songwriter's life and music. The performance is part of the theater's Cabaret Series where patrons are seated directly on the Carpenter Center stage for an up-close cabaret experience.

A one-night only adaptation of the 1974 Tony-Award winning musical Over Here! will take place on Monday, November 11 at the Triad Theater on Manhattan's upper west side. Directed by Will Nunziata and set to the original score by the Sherman Brothers, this is the first performance of this six-time Tony award winning work since its closing in 1975.
