The album features nine compositions for a quartet of adventurous musicians including Ingrid Laubrock (saxophones), Mariel Roberts (cello), and Cory Smythe (piano), with Modney on violin.

Metropolis Ensemble Launches 'House Music' Virtual Concert Series

Metropolis Ensemble is commissioning performers to present bite-sized works from contemporary composers, as well as composers to create new works specifically for this series, which are then recorded from wherever the artists are sheltering. 'House Music' launched in late March and streams live every Tuesday and Thursday at 10AM ET. The 2019 theatrical season has afforded me the opportunity to see several fantastic plays and musicals, unfortunately, Ken Ludwig's SHERWOOD THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD does not rank among them. Yes, if you like slapstick, old jokes, and sword fights then it does provide a nice evening of entertainment and several moments of raucous humor. SHERWOOD THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, starring Hal Linden, at the New Theatre Restaurant runs through February 2, 2020.

Experimental music artist Patrick Higgins brings his unique blend of classical acoustic and electric guitar in genre-bending contexts to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, August 25, at 7:30pm, as part of the citywide Hudson Eye Festivalpresented by the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation. Higgins's work as a composer traverses the styles of the European avant-garde and the tradition of post-minimalist Downtown New York music. As such, it appeals to fans of both classical and rock music, connecting the dots between Bach and Sonic Youth.

Dear Evan Hansen's Mike Faist has been cast as Riff of the Jets in Fox's Steven Spielberg West Side Story film, according to Deadline. Puerto Rican singer and dancer Ana Isabelle will play Rosalia, a shark who works with Maria and Dance Moms' Maddie Ziegler has been cast as part of the Jets. They have also cast over 40 performers set as Sharks and Jets!

Instead of conversations, Hatori creates sound stories through improvisation and ambient chanting, with guest musicians Smokey Hormel and Patrick Higgins.
