The Sankofa Collective has always done ambitious projects, including THE BODYGUARD, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, and a collaboration with the Garden Theatre, resulting in an amazing production of THE COLOR PURPLE.

On May 30 2025, pianist Simone Dinnerstein releases her new album, Complicité, on the Supertrain Records label. This is her first recording with the string ensemble she founded and directs, Baroklyn (the ensemble's name is a portmanteau of Baroque and Brooklyn, Dinnerstein's home borough), and features the music of J.S. Bach and Philip Lasser.

Renowned Broadway singer Bernadette Peters made a stunning return to Carnegie Hall on Monday October 27, 2024. It had been nearly 30 years since her last show there in 1997, but it was well worth the wait. Maestra Music has announced the much-anticipated Amplify 2024, directed by Jessica Ryan, celebrating the work of female and nonbinary composers and featuring works by Academy Award-winner Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and more!

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine's Great Music in a Great Space concert series presents a performance by Organ Scholar Samuel Kuffuor-Afriyie, Minster of Music at The Brick Presbyterian Church Raymond Nagem, violinist Monica Davis, and Ensemble 1047 Dance Collective—featuring Chase Buntrock, Runako Campbell, Mio Ishikawa, and Kevin Pajarillaga—on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30pm at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street).

Maestra Music, the not-for-profit organization supporting the women and nonbinary musicians in the musical theater industry, held its second annual concert and community event on March 28.

Over three evenings in March 2022, Fotografiska New York will host the inaugural Unfiltered Music Festival, featuring some of the city’s most vital and accomplished musical voices, inviting the audience to experience music in one of the most striking spaces in NYC.

The Overlook, a string quartet formed during the pandemic by four accomplished uptown string players, will present “If the Stars Align,” a music festival that explores four centuries of music by Black composers, with a spotlight on living composers. The free, community-focused concerts will take place outdoors at historic locations in upper Manhattan: the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum, Hispanic Society of America, and the Morris-Jumel Mansion. Special guests include composer Trevor Weston and multi-disciplinary artist Tanya Birl-Torres.

Olivia Palacios and Mandie Rapoza have released 'Circles'. 'As choreographers, our goal was to create a dance that would visually amplify the powerful impact of Trevor Weston’s music, and continue The Overlook’s pursuit of connecting music with the community.'

A moving new video has been released to honor the memory of those the Broadway community has lost from June 2019 through December 2020. It was Produced and Conceived by Mike Karns and Steven Tartick, Directed by Raúl Esparza and Music Directed by Mary-Mitchell Campbell. The  Music was Produced by Benedict Braxton-Smit, with Vocals by Sierra Boggess and Raul Esparza.

The Overlook, a string quartet formed in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, is dedicated entirely to discovering, performing and amplifying music by Black composers.

Playwright November Christine has just released a moving video from her new musical, Legacy. She explains, 'I have continued to add my voice to the conversation, culminating in a collaborative project '1968: A Tribute for Change' featuring Broadway's Nic Ryan (Beautiful, Motown) and The Overlook Quartet, a NYC based string quartet dedicated to playing works by Black composers.'

a?oeMindful Minutes,a?? the online version of the beloved weekly concert series GatherNYC, returns with performances by The Overlook (string quartet), guitarist Rupert Boyd and violist Jordan Bak. All three performances, which will premiere live on GatherNYC's Facebook page, feature music by Black composers. 

Her fans ate it up, with calls of 'We love you, Regina,' peppering her two-hour concert, the latest entry of the theatre's In Residence On Broadway series, presenting a variety of artists in short runs until TINA, the new Tina Turner musical, starts previewing in October.
