The Vancouver Art Gallery is proud to present Modern in the Making: Post-War Craft and Design in British Columbia from July 18, 2020 to January 3, 2021. The exhibition is the most comprehensive view of the mid-century craft and design scene in British Columbia assembled to date, examining ceramics, fashion, furniture, jewellery and textiles that defined West Coast modern living.

With the current theatre world on hiatus, I have created a Spotlight Series on Broadway World which features interviews with some of the many talented artists who make our Los Angeles theatre community so exciting and vibrant thanks to their ongoing contribution to keeping the Arts alive in the City of the Angels. And just like all of us, I wondered how they are dealing with the abrupt end of productions in which they were involved. This Spotlight focuses on Monica Ricketts who discovered the magic of performing onstage as a child and never looked back or wanted to do anything else.

The renowned New Orleans Jazz Orchestra reflects on the wide-ranging influence of the Big Easy's own Allen Toussaint, the legendary composer, singer, pianist, and producer, with the March 29 digital release of "Songs: The Music of Allen Toussaint" on Storyville Records (physical release is set for April 19). The album features six songs by Toussaint and one associated with him, as well as two original tribute pieces. It also marks the NOJO leadership debut of drummerartistic director Adonis Rose, who assumed the mantle in 2016 to navigate the 18-piece orchestra out of the troubled waters surrounding its now-departed founder.

Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival today announced the 2nd edition of the CONTACT Photobook Fair will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Stephen Bulger Gallery. The event is free and open to the public. In conjunction with the Fair, CONTACT is organizing a dynamic series of public programs and initiatives on photobooks throughout the month-long CONTACT Festival in May, including a conference titled Women and Photobooks (May 4) an exhibition of the 2018 Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards Shortlist (May 1-31), the Book Dummy Reviews (May 6), and the announcement of the annual Burtynsky Grant (June 6).
National Comedy Center To Celebrate Ernie Kovacs With Never-Before-Seen Centennial Exhibit

The National Comedy Center will celebrate the centennial year of legendary comedy innovator Ernie Kovacs with the acquisition and display of never-before-seen material and rare artifacts courtesy of the comedian's estate. The acquisition and exhibit were announced today - on Ernie Kovacs' 100th birthday - by the National Comedy Center and Kovacs estate executive Josh Mills.
