From Erich Kastner's classic 1949 novel, to the 1961 movie starring Hayley Mills and the 1998 remake featuring Lindsay Lohan, The Parent Trap has been delighting families for generations. Its newest incarnation comes in the form of this charming new musical, produced by Kenny Wax and directed by Trevor Nunn.
Newly launched musical theatre company Theatrical presents the Victorian premiere of Freaky Friday, based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, including the 2003 film starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis.

On Friday, May 13th, I saw a play I was previously not familiar with. VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE was performed by the Castle Craig Players at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse in Meriden, CT. This is a modern (about ten years ago) play written by controversial playwright Christopher Durang. The genres encompassed include dark drama, dark comedy, and even a political rant. The audience reactions throughout the show suggest that they truly enjoyed the show. While the show certainly has comedic elements, I feel that this show can be best appreciated if audience members come to the show expecting to see what is more of a very dark and twisted drama than a comedy, as I feel that drama is the more dominant genre in this show.

Two shows have been added to the After Hours Concert Series 2022 lineup at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia. Brothers Osborne will perform on Thursday, July 14th, and Incubus with very special guests Sublime With Rome and The Aquadolls will play Saturday, July 30th. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, March 18, 2022, at 10:00 AM. A limited number of Early Bird General Admission tickets will be available for just $26 until March 24 while supplies last.

The hit Broadway musical Mean Girls is taking up residence at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Omaha and my ears are still ringing from the thunderous applause and cheers that met the cast as they bowed, following an electric performance earlier this week.

OKC Broadway presents MEAN GIRLS now through January 2nd. Tina Fey's 2004 sleeper hit movie became a Broadway musical in 2018, and launched a national tour prior to the COVID pandemic in 2019. The live adaptation has fun choreography and a rocking score. The cast of professionals rock out in Broadway style on the Civic Center Stage.
