3-D THEATRICALS is finally back and are thrilled to invite you to “Seize the Day” as they present the high-flying NEWSIES, book by Harvey Fierstein, music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, musical conductor is Julie Lamoureux, vocal director is Crystal Barron, choreography by Chaz Wolcott (recreating the original Broadway choreography by Christopher Gattelli) and directed by T.J. Dawson. NEWSIES will preview on Friday, May 13, 2022 (with a press opening on Saturday, May 14 at 8pm) and runs through Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, 18000 Park Plaza Drive in Cerritos.  

CCAE Theatricals and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, will host a private industry reading of Bottle Shock! The Musical on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2022.

La Mirada will present The Sound of Music beginning in April! The show stars Diane Phelan (Broadway: The King and I & South Pacific at Lincoln Center) as “Maria,” Christopher Carl (Broadway: South Pacific at Lincoln Center, Mamma Mia!) as “Captain von Trapp,” and Grammy nominee Suzanna Guzmán (The King and Iwith Yul Brynner, Bizet’s Carmen) as “Mother Abbess.'

The musical-book by Enda Walsh; music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová-is based on John Carney's Academy Award-winning indie film of the same name.

Since Broadway had been dark throughout the nomination process, the society would instead honor virtual theatre productions that happened throughout the year, naming it the Virtual Theatre Award. J. Scott Lapp directs the industry readings of the new musical with a book by Robert L. Freedman on November 20th at 4pm and November 21st at 2pm at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

Producer and multi-award-winning director and choreographer Marcus S. Daniel’s rendition has magically transformed this stage musical into a hilarious, provocative, and sometimes frighteningly heightened parody that is filled with deliciously unsavory archetypes and caricatures.
