Royal Trux Release First New Music Since 2000, Announce North American Tour
by Tori Hartshorn - Oct 24, 2018

Royal Trux have done as much to define the look, attitude and sound of rock & roll as any other group in the rock & roll era. In the 90s they were the male/female rock duo that defined the decade. Everything that followed in their wake was affected. Armed with albums of extrasensory scope, and accepting nothing less than the title of 'The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band', they came, they saw, they imploded. After a 14 year hiatus, the much-missed Trux reunited for shows in 2015. Their return to the studio is nothing short of a rock & roll rapture. The magic chemistry between Jennifer Herrema (vocal, moog, guitar, melodica) and Neil Hagerty (vocal, guitar) that brought us (to name a few) Twin Infinitives, Cats and Dogs and their last LP, Pound for Pound in 2000, is present in the unadulterated, exhilarating energy on these two new tracks, released on Fat Possum today. This is the band's first new material since 2000. The band have also announced details for a coast-to-coast tour - tickets on sale Friday October 26th.  (All dates below).

by Tori Hartshorn - Oct 12, 2018

The Dodos - guitarist Meric Long and percussionist Logan Kroeber - release their seventh studio album Certainty Waves today via Polyvinyl Record Co. The Dodos celebrated the 10 year anniversary of their breakout sophomore record Visiter in 2018, and Certainty Waves - whichLong calls the band's “midlife crisis record” - finds The Dodos going back to that album's roots, embracing the unlimited possibilities of a time when there were no preconceptions of what the band should sound like. The duo had to forget everything they knew about what it meant to be the Dodos -- and quit worrying about the 'right' acoustic guitar to drum ratio -- and what began to emerge from the band's rehearsals felt new and different, yet somehow still fundamentally “Dodos.” And so, Certainty Waves was born. Stream the album on DSPs HERE and purchase itHERE.

by Tori Hartshorn - Sep 12, 2018

NPR is sharing a powerful new video for Natalie Prass' track 'The Fire' today from her sophomore album The Future And The Past. Directed by Alex Germanotta, the video is 'a statement on power dynamics between people in relationships and in society,' according to Prass. Shot in the remains of Presidents Park outside Richmond, Virginia - a now defunct open-air museum where visitors could walk among 43 presidential busts, each standing over 18 feet tall - the crumbling monument visually encapsulates the themes of Prass' new album; her heartbreak over the 2016 presidential election and her newly born awareness that she could use her music to talk about social justice.
