Let's call it a year. Recovering from the pandemic episode, home alone, only connected via Video Calls, (more or less) entertained by living room concerts instead of spending a night out at the theatre, we got the opportunity to enjoy various shows over Austria and Germany. We returned to the theatre, enjoying the atmosphere, the smell, and everything a night out offers.

Die neue Eigenproduktion der Vereinigten Buhnen Wien (VBW) stammt aus der Feder von Oscar- und Grammy Gewinner Stephen Schwartz (Musik und Lyrics) und Christian Struppeck (Buch). Das Stuck handelt von Emanuel Schikaneder, seinerseits Librettist der weltberuhmten Oper „Die Zauberflote". Daruber hinaus war er aber auch Produzent, Regisseur, Theaterbesitzer, Schauspieler und eine er schillerndsten Theaterpersonlichkeiten des 18 Jahrhunderts. SCHIKANEDER ist aber keineswegs eine musikalisierte Biografie. Vielmehr erzahlt das Musical von der turbulenten Liebesgeschichte zwischen ihm und seiner Frau Eleonore.

Aktuell kann man am Theater St.Gallen das Musical Don Camillo & Peppone von Michael Kunze und Dario Farina in seiner Weltpremiere erleben. In Koproduktion mit den Vereinigten Buhnen Wien bringt das Theater St.Gallen die zwei beruhmten Streithahne aus den gleichnamigen Kultfilmen und mit ihnen eine ganze Dorfgemeinschaft voll sudlandischer Lebensfreude auf die Buhne. Entstanden ist ein Musical fur die ganze Familie uber menschliches Miteinander, Toleranz und die Kraft der Versohnung. Die Hauptrollen werden von bekannten Musicalstars wie Maya Hakvoort (Die alte Gina), Andreas Lichtenberger (Don Camillo) und Frank Winkels (Peppone) verkorpert. Der Schweizer Schauspieler und Kabarettist Walter Andreas Muller halt als Grossvater Nonno nicht nur das ganze Dorf, sondern vor allem die Lehrerin Laura Castelli (Femke Soetenga) auf Trab. Ab Fruhjahr 2017 wird das Musical dann im Ronacher in Wien als osterreichische Erstauffuhrung zu sehen sein.
SCHIKANEDER - die turbulente Liebesgeschichte hinter der Zauberflote ist eine romantische Musical-Komodie uber eines der wohl schillerndsten Theater-Ehepaare des 18. Jahrhunderts, die am 30. September 2016 ihre Weltpremiere feiert. Die VBW schließen somit an die Tradition der Eigenproduktionen an und bringen mit SCHIKANEDER die insgesamt zwolfte Musical-Urauffuhrung des Unternehmens im Herbst auf die Buhne des Raimund Theater. Intendant Christian Struppeck stellte gestern im Beisein von Komponist und Liedtexter Stephen Schwartz Produktion und Hauptdarsteller vor.
