Review: NOT / OUR TOWN from Pony World Theatre

Dear Readers, there’s an interesting an innovative new work based on an old classic playing in Capitol Hill with Pony World Theatre’s “Not / Our Town”. Even as I arrived at the theater, the pre-show activities the audience must partake in were filled with promise. Unfortunately, that promise quickly waned as this “NOT / Our Town” ended up mostly being “Our Town Highlights” mixed with one of my pet peeves, someone else’s therapy on stage.

Sound Theatre Company Announces Spring Production of GASLIGHT

The Sound Theatre is set to dive into the play that originated the modern term 'gaslighting.' A Victorian-era thriller with timely themes, their spring production is none other than Patrick Hamilton's Gaslight (Angel Street). The show is set to open on April 23rd, and the theatre plans to keep Covid protocols in place to protect the audience, cast, and crew.

BWW Review: SHAKESPEARE: DRUM & COLOURS - AS YOU LIKE IT at Seattle Shakespeare Company

Dear Readers, after last week’s less than stellar “Hamlet” from Seattle Shakespeare Company’s “Drum and Colours” series, I was trepidatious to say the least, for this week’s premiere of “Shakespeare: Drum & Colours – As You Like It”. And while there were still some issues I had with the show, thank the Theatre Gods it was far better, and managed to engage and entertain throughout.

Sound Theatre To Mount GASLIGHT (ANGEL STREET) in April

This Spring, one of 2018's biggest buzzwords steals the spotlight. By presenting GASLIGHT (ANGEL STREET), Sound Theatre will explore the origins of “gaslighting” at 12th Ave Arts. Teresa Thuman will direct.

BWW Review: SHAKESPEARE: DRUM & COLOURS - HAMLET from Seattle Shakespeare Company

Who? What? Where? Why? These are the questions I wish the current production of “Hamlet” from Seattle Shakespeare Company had been able to answer but sadly did not. As part of their “Drum & Colours” series, which muddied things even more, this “Hamlet” lacked pacing, intent, interesting or effective staging, and coherence, making this one of the worst productions I’ve ever seen.
