Nearly 14 years after the debut of Disney Channel's massively popular sensation 'High School Musical,' the beloved movie and its newest extension, the critically acclaimed, 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' for Disney+, are the subject of a special telecast, 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: The Special,' to be presented beginning SATURDAY, DEC. 14, on ABC owned television stations and FRIDAY, DEC. 20, on Disney+.

The soundtrack from the highly-anticipated Disney+ a?oeHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Seriesa?? will be available for pre-order beginning tomorrow, November 8. The Disney+ series will generate over 40 pieces of music and content. The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series cast members penned two of the new songs for the Walt Disney Records OST. a?oeJust A Momenta?? (airing January 3, 2020) was co-written by Joshua Bassett (Ricky) and Olivia Rodrigo (Nini) as well as Dan Book, who also produced the track. a?oeAll I Wanta?? was written by Olivia Rodrigo and is set to air November 29.

In a tip of the Wildcat hat to fans of 'High School Musical,' three television networks a?" ABC, Disney Channel and Freeform a?" will present the first episode of 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' for one night only, FRIDAY, NOV. 8 (8:00 p.m. EST), in advance of the series' bow on the highly anticipated streaming service, Disney+ (launching Tuesday, Nov. 12).

Actor-singer-dancer-choreographer Adam Fleming became a part of Broadway history originating the roles of Sketch in Hairspray and Lucas in Bare. In 2005, he starred in David Brind and Adam Salky's acclaimed short film, Dare, about two teenage boys' tense, spark-filled encounter in a pool following high school play practice. Dare gained a cult following as part of Strand Releasing's 'Boys Life' series and ultimately achieved worldwide popularity via more than 12 Million views on Youtube. The fan fervor (and fan fiction!) eventually inspired a sequel, ten years later. The original and the sequel are now being presented together as The Dare Project and attracting new legions of fans.

This afternoon, Disney+ made its D23 Expo debut with its first-ever showcase presentation, announcing six new series in development and revealing key details about the highly anticipated streaming service to an enthusiastic audience at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim. The event showcased the sweeping array of talent with in-person and video appearances from the stars of Disney+'s slate of originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic and included sneak peeks, trailer premieres, and exclusive news about the service and its upcoming projects. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the Disney+ original film “Lady and the Tramp,” hosted the lively presentation, welcoming Kevin Mayer, chairman, Direct-to-Consumer & International, to the stage to kick off the show.
Disney+ Begins Production on HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: THE MUSICAL: THE SERIES

Production is underway in Salt Lake City, Utah, on the highly anticipated, innovative and re-invented 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' for Disney+, The Walt Disney Company's upcoming streaming service. The series is developed and executive produced by Tim Federle ('Ferdinand'), alongside showrunner and executive producer Oliver Goldstick ('Pretty Little Liars,' 'Ugly Betty'). Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush (the original 'High School Musical' trilogy) are also executive producers. Sundance Film Festival-nominated film, television and music video director Tamra Davis ('Empire,' 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend') is directing the first three episodes. The choreographer is Zach Woodlee ('Glee,' 'Dumplin'').
