When the pandemic hit in early 2020, OpenStage Theatre & Company began its Fight for Art, Culture and Community and to stay alive and thrive. Now OpenStage will once again bring up the curtain for its 49th Season with four Essential and two etcetera productions.

Each play will be streamed twice. Full festival passes including both weekends, and separate passes for each weekend are available. Limited individual play tickets will be available at a later date.  Learn more about how to purchase tickets here!

Portland Center Stage's annual JAW New Play Festival will bring audiences back into The Armory for live theater once again, on July 23-25, for readings of four new scripts, along with performances from local artists, classes, and more. JAW events are free and will be available to watch in-person or online.

Founder and Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi and Managing Director Marissa LaRose today announce the new, 2021/22 season at Everyman Theatre.

The company will reopen the theater with the July 2021 production of the romantic comedy “Pride and Prejudice” by Kate Hamill, based on the novel by Jane Austen. County Players will also continue the well-received CP2 Readers Theater Series with three mini-festivals.

Classic Stage Company today announced the four female theater luminaries that comprise the summer lineup for its virtual Classic Conversations series: Pulitzer Prize finalist Anna Deavere Smith on June 3; Academy Award nominee Marsha Mason on July 1; Tony Award winner Chita Rivera on August 5; and Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie on September 2.

After having closed its doors to the public in March 2020 due to COVID-19, the Alley Theatre has announced its plans to reopen the theatre in Fall 2021. Reopening the Alley Theatre coincides with its 75th Anniversary Season with performances beginning on October 1, 2021.

That’s the idea behind Syracuse Stage’s Cold Read Festival of New Plays. Now in its fourth season, the Cold Read Festival has seven different events featuring some of the freshest voices writing for theater today, nationally and locally, scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, through Sunday, March 28.

Written by Sharr White and directed by Stage artistic director Robert Hupp, “Annapurna” is a carefully balanced blend of sharp comedy and surprisingly tender drama that draws inspiration from both meanings of its title.

This Covid winter quarter at Northwestern, I’m lucky enough to be engaging with theatre in a variety of ways. Beyond my continued largely-virtual study of musical theatre, I’m choreographing a play with music, performing in a play, and recently performed in a musical theatre cabaret.

The Hangar Theatre has announced that Shirley Serotsky has been named Artistic Director. Serotsky served as the Hangar Theatre Associate Artistic Director and Education Director from September 2019 to October 2020, and as Interim Artistic Director from October 2020 to the present.
