This season Synchronicity Theatre will take audiences on a journey of self-reflection and celebration. 

Kate Hamill boldly reimagines Bram Stoker’s classic tale of vampires and finds new monsters just beneath the skin. The gothic tropes of villains who wear evil on their sleeve and damsels in distress are replaced by all-too-human monsters and ferocious women who stab at the heart of the patriarchy itself.

PRIMARY STAGES and 59E59 Theaters, in association with Jamie deRoy, has announced casting for peerless, by 2019/20 Tow Playwright-in-Residence Jiehae Park (Hannah and the Dread Gazebo) and directed by Margot Bordelon (... what the end will be). 

The Detroit Mercy Theatre Company and University of Detroit Mercy's Department of Performing Arts has announced its 2022-23 season entitled 'BELIEVE,' featuring three mainstage works to be performed at The Marlene Boll Theatre. The season will also feature performances and workshops as part of the University of Detroit Mercy's TheatreLab, a second stage series, performed at University of Detroit Mercy's McNichols Campus.

The world's most famous vampire is back! Actors Theatre of Louisville revives its annual Dracula tradition for in-person audiences by producing a new adaptation by Kate Hamill. Witty and terrifying, Hamill's Dracula was first seen in New York in 2020, and Actors Theatre of Louisville's production represents the second production and regional premiere of this stunning adaptation.

Cygnet Theatre announces changes to its fall programming. The changes begin with a second extension of Cabaret run dates. This dark and daring musical will now run through October 2, 2022 to close out Season 18. The first show of Season 19, which was originally set to be the World Premiere of The Little Fellow (Or – The Queen of Tarts Tells All) by Kate Hamill, will be moved to the final slot of the season. The new run dates will be October 25 – November 19, 2023. 

ELLA: An American Miracle, a new musical written by Anna Deavere Smith (Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and Notes From The Field) and featuring music from the Ella Fitzgerald songbook, is currently in development, with an upcoming work session held from August 25-September 21 to conclude with a private industry presentation.

After two years away from the outdoor stage at Sanborn County Park, Silicon Valley Shakespeare is returning with two epic productions running in repertory from Friay, July 29, 2002, through Sunday, September 4, 2022 - William Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, and Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility.

What did our critic think of EMMA at Guthrie Theatre? Emma Woodhouse prides herself on being a matchmaker with an impeccable track record, much to the chagrin of her dear friend Mr. Knightley. Her latest scheme revolves around the sweet Harriet Smith, whom Emma advises to reject a perfectly good marriage proposal in favor of another eligible bachelor. However, her best-laid plans are turned upside down by unpredictable displays of affection, unexpected rivals and Emma's sudden realization that true love may have been under her nose all along. With screwball comedy and surprises aplenty, this fresh, fast-paced world premiere interprets the Jane Austen classic with delightfully unconventional flair.

PRIMARY STAGES announced casting for On That Day in Amsterdam by Clarence Coo (People Sitting in Darkness) and directed by Zi Alikhan (The Boy Who Danced on Air). On That Day in Amsterdam will begin previews at 59E59’s Theater A on July 23, 2022, with opening night set for August 11 for a limited run through September 4, 2022.

The Umbrella Stage Company returns this fall with a line-up featuring iconic characters and stories in a series of productions that enable the Company to celebrate the full range of its renovated space.

The South Carolina New Play Festival announced the shows for the city-wide performing arts festival in Greenville, South Carolina, August 12-14. The festival will feature readings of Kate Hamill's The Scarlet Letter, directed by Shelley Butler, Kareem Fahmy's Dodi and Diana, directed by Adrienne Campell-Holt, Adam Ben-David, Christyn Budzyna, and Jessica Penzias' musical From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, directed by West Hyler, and Samantha Miller's Dragonsoul Offline. The festival will end with a cabaret from Jarrod Spector and Kelli Barrett.

Based on Louisa May Alcott's famous coming-of-age story, this new adaptation by Kate Hamill is filled with the heart, spunk, and beautiful imperfection that makes the March sisters and their story such a timeless classic.
