As BroadwayWorld sadly reported last week, legendary Broadway director and producer Hal Prince passed away at 91 years of age after a brief illness, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

As the theatre community mourns the loss of the legendary producer and director Harold Prince, we're looking back at the opening night of Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of Prince of Broadway, which celebrated his career spanning seven decades. An all-star cast of Broadway favorites is set to lead a one-night only concert of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods in New York City.

On Monday evening, April 22, 2019, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the longest-running show in Broadway history, became the first Broadway show EVER to reach #13,000 performances.

Just yesterday, The Broadway League celebrated Kids' Night on Broadway with its first-ever Pop-Up Photo Booth Experience in Times Square. Free and open to the public, the specially designed 260-degree, heated photo booth welcomed theatre fans and families to take pictures in Times Square before heading to their evening performances. Joey McIntyre, currently starring as Dr. Pomatter in Waitress, hosted the event, with Caitlin Kinnunen and Isabelle McCalla, both starring in The Prom, joining the fun as social media correspondents. 

Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group have announced that Broadway's blockbuster phenomenon, Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, will continue making history with two upcoming milestones. The musical will first celebrate its 31st Anniversary this Saturday, January 26, 2019. The production is next on track to reach an unprecedented 13,000 performances in April. Both are feats achieved by no other Broadway show.
