The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) opened DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing, last evening with the musical Marry Me A Little, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by 2018 Leo Shull Musical Theatre Directing Fellow Kemar Jewel, with music direction by Josh Kight at New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street). Last night, the 2017-2018 class of Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellows presented excerpts of full length works at Playwrights Horizons at 7:00 PM. This presentation caps off a year spent working under the tutelage of Michael Korie (War Paint), Laurence O'Keefe (Heathers), Diana Son (Stop Kiss), and Sheri Wilner (Kingdom City).

Broadway's MOTOWN: The Musical and Helen Hayes nominee N'Kenge, will be the first to perform a solo show at The Pierre Hotel. She will be collaborating with Musical Director Josh Kight on piano. Broadway at The Pierre Series is thrilled to have N'Kenge back after a Sold Out performance a few months ago where she performed alongside Antoine L. Smith and Dan Domenach. Its a One Night Only event on Monday May 7, 2018 at 8:30PM in the Two E Lounge.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Tess Jonas in "ANYTHING BUT QUIET: THE LIT(ERARY) WOMEN OF MUSICAL THEATRE" on Saturday, April 7. This show is a celebration of the "lit" women of musical theater, ladies lifted from literature, who love literature, and many who were penned by female authors. Jonas creates an evening of feminist literary history from Pride and Prejudice to Fun Home, from Jane Eyre to The Color Purple. Helen Hayes nominee N'Kenge (Motown: The Musical, Sondheim and Sondheim) will play the title role of a presentation of a new musical DOROTHY, produced by Richard Bell (Bubbling Brown Sugar) with book, music & lyrics by award-winning playwright/composer Robert Mitchell (Vincent, Frankenstein), featuring musical direction by Josh Kight. The presentation will be held tomorrow, June 9th, 2017 at 11:00AM at the private club The Players for industry guests.

A private first-act developmental reading of the new musical adaptation of 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' will be presented May 23rd at 3pm at the MTC Studios, and May 24th at 7pm in Stephen Schwartz's ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop. Originally developed in the BMI Workshop (A Chorus Line, Ragtime, Avenue Q) by Gregory Bonsignore (Book/Lyrics) and Aaron Kenny (Music), it will be directed by Michael Berresse (Obie winner, Title of Show, Golden Apple).

On Monday, March 13, 2017, A Class Act NY, the award-winning acting studio for kids and teens, proudly presented the 'MY FAVORITE THINGS' Cabaret at the historic Triad Theatre. Talented young singers, ages 7-18, presented songs from their favorite Broadway musicals. A portion of the proceeds were donated to The enCourage Kids Foundation, a charity that encourages all kids facing health challenges to be carefree kids. Scroll down for photos!
