The Audio Theatre podcast HEAR PLAY has announced the release of its new season with a production of THREE WISE GUYS by Scott Alan Evans and Jeffrey Couchman. Three Wise Guys is based on the short stories “Dancing Dan’s Christmas” and “The Three Wise Guys” by American humorist Damon Runyon, whose work is also the basis for the musical GUYS AND DOLLS.

The Players Theatre Self-Production Residency Program just opened its 35th show since the program’s launch in 2017. After Happily Ever After, which opened on May 5, recently extended its run until May 29 at the Steve and Marie Sgouros Theatre.

After Happily Ever After, a new musical comedy, is set to make its New York premiere in an Off-Broadway residency at The Players Theatre (115 Macdougal Street) for a three-week limited engagement. The musical is scheduled to open on Thursday, May 5.

Told through the memory of 20-year-old Linda O'Shea, the play begins when the parish priest overhears Linda's bawdy-but-accurate explanation of “the birds and the bees” to her younger sister, Becky. What follows is a fast-paced chain of events that's both unexpected and hilarious. 

The Bridge Initiative: Women+ in Theatre (TBI) offers a virtual series called SAI: Scratching our Artistic Itches. Every Sunday at 1pm, TBI presents a live, one-time-only reading of a unproduced play or a Pulitzer Prize winner. The playwrights are often in attendance and participate in the Q&A that follows. Actors are mostly from the Valley but some live in other parts of the country from Los Angeles to New York. And all participants receive a stipend for their time.

Fellowship for Performing Arts announced today complete casting for the second annual Imagine This!, a festival of staged readings featuring plays under consideration for future development that will take place December 4, 5 and 6. Performances will take place at Theatre Three at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036).
