While filming a virtual benefit for the York Theatre, Andre De Shields was surprised by two producers and a Senator.

Senator Brad Hoylman surprised the Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner André De Shields with a Senate Proclamation on Thursday April 8th, 2021 proclaiming the day “André De Shields Appreciation Day”. The surprise proclamation was arranged by producer Tom D’Angora to honor the extensive charity work Mr. De Shields has done for the community this year.

The York Theatre Company announced today an anonymous donor WILL match all donations this week up $50,000 as part of its “Rebuild The York” campaign which leads up to the Gala Benefit performance of THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!)…AND MORE!, which begins streaming on demand on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 7:00PM.

After fundraising efforts that saved Birdland and The West Bank Cafe, three superheroes of the industry turn their attention to The York Theatre Company.

 The York Theatre Company will present an All-Singing, All-Talking, All-Virtual special benefit presentation of the Off-Broadway hit _THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!).This event will raise funds to help The York recover and rebuild after devastating damage from a water main break on January 4, 2021.

Broadway Sings has announced the lineup for the interactive concert event Remember Broadway? 2.0, which will celebrate what theater fans and performers have to look forward to when Broadway opens up again.

Pleasant Valley Productions has announced the season line up, with performances beginning May 22nd, 2021. The Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center, located at 4 Boland Drive, in West Orange, New Jersey, is a beautiful outdoor amphitheater, perfect for a safe night out for the entire family.

'Still Standing' is a video  celebrating the amazing professional artists, on and off stage, who are anxiously awaiting the day when  the lights of Broadway will once again be lit and audiences around the world can come back to the theatre.  

New York Theatre Barn will host a free live stream of its award-winning New Works Series on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 at 7PM EST, featuring excerpts from the new musicals Anjou: The Musical Horror Tale and For Tonight. The live 1-hour presentation will also feature a conversation with the writers and creative team.

The hit musical ​Dreamgirls ​will be live streamed in four unique performances on the Clubhouse app on ​Saturday, February 27 (3pm and 7pm EST) ​and on ​Sunday, February 28 (1pm and 7pm EST). ​As we await showtime, BroadwayWorld is catching up with the event's creator, Leroy Church, who told us all about the inspiration behind the exciting new project.

New York Theatre Barn will continue to host free live streams of its New Works Series on select Wednesday evenings at 7PM ET. For the past year, the company has presented 37 virtual installments of its New Works Series (among other programming), showcased 78 new musicals, and lifted up the work of 131 writers and over 400 artists.

Fresh off his Broadway run of Ain’t Too Proud, Jelani Remy will bring Music Hall audiences a feast of pop and musical theatre songs in his own energetic style on Friday, February 26. Seating in the Historic Theater will be socially distanced.
