Netflix Is A Joke, Netflix's comedy brand, is throwing a week-long comedy festival, Netflix Is A Joke Fest. Produced by Netflix in association with Live Nation, the star-studded celebration of comedy will take over Los Angeles April 27th - May 3rd and feature live stand-up shows, special events and activations with Netflix comedians and artists from around the world. Featured Netflix talent include Ali Wong, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Dave Chappelle, David Letterman, Jamie Foxx, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence, Sebastian Maniscalco, the cast of Schitt's Creek and more. The fest will also include STAND OUT: An LGBTQ+ Celebration with headliners Alan Carr, Hannah Gadsby, Margaret Cho, Rosie O'Donnell, Sandra Bernhard, Wanda Sykes and more.

“Let's join hands and stand in a circle” isn't just the chorus of this year's holiday song from writers Avery Pearson & Jordan Baum, benefittng the non-profit Comedy Gives Back, but the foundation for a new initiative being activated by the organization. Comedy Gives Back: Taking Care of Our Own benefits stand-up comedians in times of need, whether it's emergency financial relief grants, access to mental health services or substance abuse treatment. Being on-stage alone is the job. Feeling alone offstage is unacceptable, and Comedy Gives Back is changing that.
Comedy Central Greenlights Docu-Comedy Special from D.L. Hughley

Comedy Central today announced a greenlight for a one-hour comedic documentary from D.L. Hughley, How Not to Get Shot and Other Advice from White People, based on Hughley's New York Times bestselling book of the same name. Hughley will executive produce and star in the project, which will follow him into the field to explore the state of race in America. By following behavioral advice given to African Americans, will Hughley make all the problems of race in America disappear, or will he bring systemic prejudice to light?

With a goal of reaching the $6 million mark in its ongoing battle against Parkinson's disease, LIGHT OF DAY WINTERFEST: THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY, presented by the Asbury Park Press, celebrates its momentous milestone year as the anchor event for the world-renowned Light of Day Foundation with over 50 events by 150 music acts in five cities and three states, from Jan. 10-20, 2020. On World Mental Health Day, Comedy Central, in partnership with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), a program of the National Council for Behavioral Health, today premiered its Be The Difference public service announcement (PSA) featuring Jeff Ross, Matteo Lane and Yamaneika Saunders. The spot is the initial step in Comedy Central's first long-term social impact campaign that will focus on driving culture change on mental health. Working with its launch partners, Comedy Central will integrate the campaign across all brand platforms, including linear series, social content and live events, with the goal of making emotional health as important as physical health.

Showtime Documentary Films today announced a four-part documentary series that will chronicle the history of the iconic L.A. club The Comedy Store, directed and executive produced by Mike Binder (Black or White) and executive produced by Oscar®nominee and Emmy® winner Mike Tollin (THE FRANCHISE). The project is expected to premiere on SHOWTIME in 2020.
