NY State Senator Brad Hoylman, who is currently running to be the next Manhattan Borough President, has a long history supporting the performing arts and cultural institutions in New York City. André De Shields, Judy Kuhn, Liz Calloway, Ryann Redmond, Telly Lueng, Seth Rudetsky, and more have come together signing a letter of endorsement.

Just last night, The York Theatre Company presented an All-Singing, All-Talking, All-Virtual special benefit presentation of the Off-Broadway hit THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!)...and More!, available to view on demand through April 21, 2021.

THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!)...AND MORE! premieres on Sunday evening, April 18, 2021 at 7:00PM to benefit the York Theatre, which suffered water damage after a water main break earlier this year. While filming a virtual benefit for the York Theatre, Andre De Shields was surprised by two producers and a Senator.

Senator Brad Hoylman surprised the Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner André De Shields with a Senate Proclamation on Thursday April 8th, 2021 proclaiming the day “André De Shields Appreciation Day”. The surprise proclamation was arranged by producer Tom D’Angora to honor the extensive charity work Mr. De Shields has done for the community this year.

The York Theatre Company announced today an anonymous donor WILL match all donations this week up $50,000 as part of its “Rebuild The York” campaign which leads up to the Gala Benefit performance of THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!)…AND MORE!, which begins streaming on demand on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 7:00PM.

After fundraising efforts that saved Birdland and The West Bank Cafe, three superheroes of the industry turn their attention to The York Theatre Company.

Since 1978, West Bank Cafe has been one of the epicenters of New York City’s theatre community, and due to the pandemic, it is on the verge of permanently closing. With Broadway dark, tourism down, indoor dining closed, and no relief plan in sight, 2020 has created a plethora of financial problems for the beloved theater district institution. 

A is For hosted a benefit reading of Paula Kamen's documentary play Jane: Abortion and the Underground at Rattlestick on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Proceeds from the benefit will support A is For's newly announced Abortion Playwriting Contest.
