The renaming of the theatre was dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday. 

'Phone rings, door chimes, in comes company,' OJ Mariano's Bobby sang those Stephen Sondheim's words to officially open Upstart Productions' Company, Sondheim and George Furth's Tony Award-winning musical, at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre last night, 13 September.

This September, Upstart Productions stages a?oeCompany,a?? the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth. The musical comedy centers around Bobby, a bachelor who can't seem to find a suitable partner for himself. The musical explores the different kinds of relationships he has with the people in his life. He looks into his friends' respective marriages and assesses his romantic attachments.

Community theater Jakarta Performing Arts Community (JPAC) will bring Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's musical comedy COMPANY to Indonesia later this year. The MTI-licensed show will run on November 29th through December 1st at Teater Salihara, Jakarta.

Santa Cruz County Actors' Theatre, who brings the community the annual sold-out 8 Tens @ Eight Short Play Festival, concludes their 2019 season with Stephen Sondheim's award winning musical Company. Dedicated to the enrichment of young lives through experience in the theatre arts, the Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers Workshop returns to the Little Theatre August 9 through August 18 with the annual Summer Festival of Shows. The U.S. tour of the Olivier Award-winning THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG lands at the Ahmanson Theatre for its Los Angeles stop beginning July 9, 2019. This madcap play-within-a-play also won, among other laurels, the Tony for Best Scenic Design in 2017. I 'rightfully' got a chance to ask a few questions of WRONG's Brandon J. Ellis. Brandon's the U.S. tour's original Trevor, the sound and lighting tech handling the play-within-a-play THE MURDER AT HAVERSHAM MANOR, a 1920's murder mystery.

Playwrights Horizons, in association with Page 73, present the world premiere production of A Strange Loop, with book, music, and lyrics by 2017 Jonathan Larson Award and 2017 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award-winner Michael R. A Strange Loop explores the thoughts of Usher, a black, queer writer working a job he hates while writing his original musical: a piece about a black, queer writer, working a job he hates while writing his original musical. Michael R. Jackson's blistering, momentous new musical (and his professional debut) follows a young artist at war with a host of demons-not least of which are the punishing thoughts in his own head-in an attempt to capture and understand his own strange loop.

From stage to screen and everywhere in between, Liz Callaway's four-decades-long career has been non-stop. That includes numerous cabarets, and, hot off the heels of her hit solo show A HYMN FOR HER, Liz Callaway gets even hotter with SETS IN THE CITY, an eclectic mix of old and new favorites written by Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwartz, Burt Bacharach, and more.

 The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center will present Broadway legend Patti LuPone on Saturday, July 20 at 8:00pm, and The Fab Faux performing a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Abbey Road on Friday, August 2 at 8:00pm. Sunday was a very good day for Patti LuPone at the Laurence Olivier Awards. Not only did the recently closed West End revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's COMPANY will the award for Best Musical Revival, the two-time Tony winner also picked up her third Olivier, this time for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for playing Joanne.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) and Fiasco Theater's new production of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG will play the final performance of an extended limited engagement on April 14, 2019.

'It was 1981, we were stoned out of our mind...' said Sondheim. For the first time, instead of being presented backward, the show will be re-worked to be staged in chronological order. Check out the video below for more information!
