Stephen Sondheim's cerebral, minimalist COMPANY might not be an obvious choice for a community theater here in Indonesia where musicals are still often seen as jazz-hands and kicklines, but director Fonnyta Amran and JPAC (Jakarta Performing Arts Community) made it work. The production of COMPANY was as game-changing as its original Broadway counterpart back in the day.

Company, is a bold, seminal musical that premiered on Broadway in 1970. Brief vignettes (by George Furth) and dazzling songs (Stephen Sondheim) are flashes of insight into the life of commitment-phobic, Manhattan bachelor, Bobby as he listens to advice from his married friends while struggling with his fear of both long-term relationships and the possibility of ending up on his own.

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, will present a developmental presentation of a new dance musical, A CROSSING, on December 13 at Alvin Ailey Dance Studios.

Rashidra Scott will play the role of Susan and completes principal casting in the visionary new production of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's landmark American musical, Company, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Marianne Elliott starring Tony and Grammy Award winner Katrina Lenk as Bobbie and two-time Tony Award and two-time Grammy Award winner Patti LuPone as Joanne.

Two-time Tony Award and two-time Olivier Award winner Patti LuPone has donated a portion from her personal archive to Columbia University's Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) Department of Drama opens its 2019-20 season with Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning 1970 musical comedy Company at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. The book, written by George Furth, tells the story of Robert, a confirmed bachelor who, on the night of his 35th birthday, contemplates his unmarried state. Throughout a series of several social events, his friends explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. Robert is forced to question his bachelorhood during a meaningful array of interactions. The show opens Sunday, Nov. 17, and closes on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2019, offering both matinee and evening performances.

Trustus Theatre opens their 35th Anniversary Season with the 1971 Tony Award-Winning musical, Company. Originally set in the '70s, this production has been reimagined to a modern landscape where swiping right, liking, and sharing are all part of starting a relationship and will leave us pondering how true human connections begin these days. Company will open up on The Thigpen Main Stage on Friday September 27, and will run through Saturday, October 26, 2019. Shows will run Thursday through Sunday for five packed weekends.
