OffWestEnd Awards (Offies) Unveil 2026 Nominations

The OffWestEnd Awards (Offies) have revealed their 2026 nominations, highlighting the best in independent theatre. The awards showcase a range of emerging and established talent in the Off-West End scene.

Critics’ Choice: Franco Milazzo's Best Theatre Of 2025

Looking back over 2025, it appears I sat in a dark room and wrote barely legible thoughts into a notebook on about 150-odd occasions. By the grace of God and the BroadwayWorld UK editor, I saw a real smörgåsbord of delights, everything from highly anticipated West End theatre to opera, dance, circus, cabaret, comedy and immersive theatre.

Review: ONE MAN MUSICAL, Underbelly Boulevard

If sacred cows make the best burgers, Underbelly Soho could soon become the most popular fast food joint around. One Man Musical’s latest outing is quickly becoming something of a word-of-mouth must-see and, while the marketing is understandably coy about who the “one man” is, it becomes clear early on that cabaret duo Flo & Joan have come not to praise Andrew Lloyd Webber but to hilariously bury him in his own faintly ridiculous history.

Critics' Choice: Kat Mokrynski's Top Ten Shows of 2024

Having seen over 320 shows in cities like London, New York, Edinburgh in 2024, it was certainly difficult to narrow it down to my top ten shows of the year, but I have done my best! This list is a mix of plays, musicals and stand-up comedy shows that I have seen as both a critic, as well as some that I went to as a punter.

ONE MAN MUSICAL To The Underbelly Boulevard Soho

Following a triumphant debut run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and two sell-out runs at Soho Theatre, which saw the brand-new musical receive rave reviews, One Man Musical will now transfer to the Underbelly Boulevard Soho in London's West End from Thursday 16th January to Sunday 2nd March.

Review: ONE MAN MUSICAL, Soho Theatre

Written by comedy duo Flo & Joan and directed by Georgie Straight, One Man Musical has quite the simple description - an “original one-man musical about a very renowned gentleman.” This isn’t going to be a one man musical about just any ordinary man. Instead, we’re going to be taking a peek into the mind of one of the world’s most (in)famous musical theatre giants - Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Review: MATES IN CHELSEA, Royal Court

burbThe Royal Court was the first stage for Lucy Wade’s biting satire Posh, which focused on the lack of consequences of the poor and entitled behaviour of certain members of the upper classes. That was back in 2010 and it can be argued that amount of material to work with on the subject is even greater that ever. Unfortunately, Rory Mullarkey’s new play wastes every opportunity to say anything novel.

Cast Set For MATES IN CHELSEA at the Royal Court

The Royal Court Theatre has announced that Amy Booth-Steel, Natalie Dew, Karina Fernandez, George Fouracres, Laurie Kynaston, Philipp Mogilnitskiy and Fenella Woolgar have been cast in Mates in Chelsea. Learn more about the production and find out how to get tickets here!

Review: THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, Shakespeare's Globe

With the swashbuckling zeal of a rowdy tavern brawl and all the brash bravado you can shake a bulging cod piece at, the Sean Holmes helmed The Comedy of Errors crashes onto the Globe stage to start the summer season with a bang.

2022 Year in Review: Cindy Marcolina's Best of 2022

After two years of absolute doom and uncertainty, 2022 began with a sprinkle of glimmer on the horizon. Masked up and cautious, we came back to theatres properly. Admittedly and unfortunately, I found the return underwhelming and gave very few glowing 5-star reviews. I still loved a good number of productions, but it’s a far cry from struggling to whittle it down to a Top 10. Nonetheless, it was an exciting year.

Review: THE TEMPEST, Shakespeare's Globe

Love Island meets Below Deck in Benidorm in this OTT aestival pastiche. Prospero dons a speedo. Questionable tattoos cover a few of the cast. The most unpredictable of twists stretches the limits of copyright infringement. It’s absolutely bonkers, but it works! Holmes delivers a modern, refreshing, and unconventional take.

Shakespeare's Globe Announces Full Cast of THE TEMPEST

Shakespeare's Globe has announced the cast and company for a new production of The Tempest running this summer from 22 July - 22 October, directed by Sean Holmes. Shakespeare's tumultuous tale of reckoning and redemption will be brought to life by the Globe Ensemble, who have been thrilling audiences in the critically acclaimed season opening production of Much Ado About Nothing which runs until 23 October.
