Beginning with its first preview tomorrow (Thursday, November 1), a limited number of balcony seats will be sold as rush tickets, priced at $29, to Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, the new play by Aaron Sorkin, directed by Bartlett Sher, and starring Jeff Daniels as Atticus Finch. Rush tickets will be limited to 2 per person and will only be available at the Shubert Theatre box office (225 West 44 Street) beginning at 10am on the day of the performance.

PBS revealed tonight that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD was voted America's best-loved novel during this evening's GREAT AMERICAN READ "Grand Finale". The final episode, taped in front of a live audience at the Masonic Hall in New York City, counted down all 100 novels, which were first announced to the public in April. Series host Meredith Vieira joined the playwright and cast of the new Broadway play based on TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD- author Aaron Sorkin, Jeff Daniels (Atticus Finch), LaTanya Richardson Jackson (Calpurnia) and Gbenga Akinnagbe (Tom Robinson) - to celebrate the announcement of America's best-loved novel, and discuss both its lasting impact and why it resonates today. An agreement has just been reached between Rudinplay and the Harper Lee Estate regarding the new Aaron Sorkin penned stage adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird. The play will go forward as scheduled, opening at Broadway's Shubert Theatre in December.

The Broadway-bound production of To Kill a Mockingbird has been in legal trouble for some time, but answers may be coming soon. Yesterday an Alabama court judge granted Scott Rudin's request for an expedited trial and agreed to move the adjudication to the Southern New York circuit. The two-week trial is scheduled to begin June 4.
