The Straz Center’s new Kaleidoscope Performance Series highlights the powerful intersection between creative expression and personal well-being. This series, part of the Straz Center’s ongoing Arts and Health programming, brings together innovative performance artists who specialize in 'knowingness' — an understanding of the transformative potential of the arts in both individual and community health.

Previews: THE VETERAN CIVILIAN ARTS ENSEMBLE at Straz' TECO Theatre

With an original score by Fred Johnson, Straz's Community Engagement Specialist, the show features 10 veterans and six civilians – several are USF dance students. The topics of the productions are items the veterans and civilians have discussed. The production features musicians, dancers, actors, singers, and a photographer sharing artwork.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a historic day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States on June 19, 1865. This year's Arts Legacy REMIX Juneteenth celebration aims to honor the cultural significance of this date through the power of dance and artistic expression.

BWW Interview: Gail Schickele of SOLO ARTS HEAL at MarshStream Helps Us Explore Serious Issues with Humor and Heart

As we all continue to navigate our way through these unprecedented times, The Marsh is meeting this moment with its weekly Solo Arts Heal series, which uses lightness and humor to explore some of the challenging issues we’re all grappling with. The series comes from artists’ inspiring true stories that celebrate overcoming adversity; surviving emotional, mental, and physical challenges; and becoming health advocates. The vulnerability of the participating artists leads listeners through their personal journeys of trauma and healing. Producer, writer and longtime champion of the Arts and Sciences Gail Schickele is host of the informative and entertaining series, available to stream every Wednesday at 7:30pm (PST) on MarshStream. Each week, Schickele is joined by a new guest for performance excerpts, talkbacks, and Q&A. Visit themarsh.org/soloartsheal/ for additional info. Van Wezel Announces January Cabaret By The Bay Dates

The Van Wezel announces all new Cabaret by the Bay dates, starring the Michael Ross Quartet! On Friday, January 15, 2021 and Saturday, January 16, 2021, enjoy live jazz in the Van Wezel's Grand Foyer with food and beverage by Mattison's. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 18 at 10 a.m.

The Marsh continues to offer a wide variety of new programming at 7:30pm nightly on MarshStream, its popular broadcast platform. Offerings through November 15 include: an exclusive look into activist/urbanist Margie O'Driscoll's perspective on urban life in the era of COVID-19 and more.

As the Bay Area's shelter-in-place continues, The Marsh offers a variety of programming at 7:30pm nightly on MarshStream, its popular broadcast platform. Offerings this month include a story about a vacation on the cusp of the COVID-19 pandemic, restorative yoga, a visit with a top Bay Area director, and much more (see latest schedule below).

As a way to honor the diversity in Tampa Bay, The Straz Center created The Straz Arts Legacy REMIX Project, where writers, actors, musicians, singers, and dancers join together to perform for at a free monthly event. On May 3, The Straz Arts Legacy REMIX Project will celebrate global storytelling. Sponsored by Publix and Tampa Downtown Partnership, the special event includes The Korean Association of West Florida, The Kuumba Dancers and Drummers, Tampa City Ballet, Shreyas Arts, and The Fred Johnson Jazz Ensemble.

As part of a means to celebrate the rich and beautiful diversity in Tampa Bay, The Straz Center created The Straz Arts Legacy REMIX Project, where writers, actors, musicians, singers, and dancers join together to perform for a free event showcasing a particular culture. During February's Black History month, The Straz Arts Legacy REMIX Project will celebrate artists of color on screen by showing three influential films in TECO Theatre 3-5pm on February 3, 10, and 17.
