The Imperial Sound's blithe synthesis of 21st-century irony and bright, unselfconscious AM-radio pop is both brave and unique. And catchy as hell. The band's debut album, The New AMshowcases songwriter Frederick Mosher's hook-driven heritage – with influences from Todd Rundgren and Carole King to The Replacements and Elvis Costello – delivering infectious, shimmering songs that celebrate the craft and style of the best pop music. Pravda Records will release the new album on August 31st, and the band will celebrate at the Hideout September 1st with guest singers Renaldo Domino and Robert Cornelius.

Dan Levinson's Midsummer Night's Jazz Party returns to the Bickford Theatre as part of Summer JazzFest for one night only on Thursday, August 2 at 7:30 pm. For his annual appearance at the popular festival, Levinson dispenses with music scores and stands for a jam session in the tradition of the legendary jazz clubs of the forties and fifties such as Eddie Condon's and Nick's. Joining the popular clarinetist will be Jon-Erik Kellso on trumpet, Harvey Tibbs on trombone, Mark Shane on piano, Rob Adkins on bass, and Paul Wells on drums. And as customary, the concert will be preceded by a food truck picnic.

Tickets go on-sale starting Friday, July 13 at 10:00AM local time. Further PUBLIC IMAGE LTD activity includes the release of THE PUBLIC IMAGE IS ROTTEN acareer–spanning box set (out July 20) and a new documentary film of the same name, the latter of which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and at London's Raindance Festival. Directed byTabbert Fiiller and released by Abramorama, the film will make its North American theatrical premiere on Friday, September 14 in New York City at Metrograph with more theatrical dates in October-November to coincide with PiL's North American fall tour.
