New Wave Arts is presenting the latest installation in their “Inspired by Baroque” Series, a two-night-only premiere of My Cyrano, an improvisation featuring extracts from Edmond Rostand’s classic heroic comedy Cyrano de Bergerac and extracts from the poem “My Cyrano” by Tanya Lebedinskaya.

Royal Alexandra Theatre to Dim Marquee Lights for Christopher Plummer

Christopher Plummer, one of the greatest actors of the 20th and 21st centuries, died today at the age of 91. In the great tradition of the theatre, to honour his extraordinary body of work the marquee lights of the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto will be dimmed at the traditional curtain-up time, 8 pm, on Saturday, February 6th.

The cast is led by Emilia Clarke (Nina) with Danny Ashok (Medvedenko), Robert Glenister (Sorin), Tom Rhys Harries (Trigorin), Daniel Monks (Konstantin), Tamzin Outhwaite (Polina), Patrick Robinson (Dorn), Seun Shote (Shamrayev), Indira Varma (Arkadina), and Sophie Wu (Masha). The production opens at Playhouse Theatre on 19 March, with previews from 11 March, and runs until 30 May.

The Roxy Regional Theatre's production of THE FANTASTICKS, originally scheduled to open Valentine's night, has been postponed until the following week, due to illness. The show's lead actress recently tested positive for the flu, and the extra time needed for her rest and recovery has made it impossible to get in enough rehearsal time to be ready for the original opening.
