JUMP By Charly Evon Simpson Concludes Its NNPN Rolling World Premiere In Austin

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces the final Rolling World Premiere production of Jump by Charly Evon Simpson opening this week. Following productions at PlayMakers Rep, Milagro/Confrontation Theatre, and Actor's Express, Jump by Charly Evon Simpson concludes its Roll with Shrewd Productions (September 13 - 29, 2019).

Applications Now Open For 2020 Residencies At SPACE On Ryder Farm

WCT Annual Benefit to Feature Mark St. Germain

On Saturday evening September 21 from 6 to 10 pm, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)'s annual fall benefit at the Shattemuc Yacht Club, will feature multiple award-winning playwright Mark St. Germain. The author of Freud's Last Session (Off Broadway Alliance Award), Camping With Henry And Tom (Outer Critics Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award), Forgiving Typhoid Mary (ranked among Time Magazine's 'Year's Ten Best'), and Becoming Dr. Ruth, the story of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, St. Germain will deliver the keynote address.

Boston Theater Celebrates Free Expression With BANNED TOGETHER- A CENSORSHIP CABARET

Patrick Gabridge, Eastern New England Regional Representative for the Dramatists Guild, announces the Boston performance of Banned Together: A Censorship Cabaret, in partnership with the Dramatists Legal Defense Fund and PEN America. Banned Together will run for one performance only on Monday, Sept. 23rd from 7-8:30 pm at the Boston Public Library, Main Branch (700 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116). Banned Together is a celebration of songs and scenes from shows that have been censored or challenged on America's stages. Award-winning Boston directors Ilyse Robbins and Weylin Symes helm the reading along with Music Director Matthew Stern, and featuring a cast of Boston-based professional actors. Free and open to the public, no advance tickets are needed.

Lapidus, D'Archangelis, and Cook Come to Feinstein's/54 Below

Amanda D'Archangelis, Ben Lapidus, and Anderson Cook are returning to Feinstein's/54 Below to celebrate five years of original, off-kilter musical theatre in New York City. This rising writing trio is bringing together old cast members and new guests to showcase their favorite odd, obscene, heartwarming, and hilarious characters and songs from shows like Bleeding Kansas, Pop Punk High, Blatantly Blaine, and The Disembodied Hand That Fisted Everyone to Death a?" the Musical!, as well as never-before-heard projects and brand new music.

2019 IDEA AWARDS Recipients Announced

Broadway-Bound SIX & More Earn Nominations For The 51st Annual Jeff Awards

Eleven world premiere plays and musicals seen first by Chicago audiences were among those receiving nominations by the Jeff Awards, announced today. A total of 192 nominations were made in 34 categories that honor Chicago Equity theatrical productions that opened between August 1, 2018 and July 31, 2019. During the 2018-19 season, Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 132 Equity productions offered by 43 producing organizations and from these openings, 112 productions were a?oeJeff Recommendeda?? and eligible for award nominations.

KCRep Launches 2019/2020 Readings In Popular Monday Night Playwright Series

Kansas City Repertory Theatre (KCRep), announced the full schedule for this season's popular Monday Night Playwright Series, which opened with BURIED ROOTS, its first play of the series, on Monday. The series features a line-up of new and returning playwrights including Michelle Tyrene Johnson, Darren Canady, James Still, Migdalia Cruz, Mashuq Mushtaq Deen and Ellen McLaughlin. These free public events take place on the UMKC campus at the Spencer Theatre Donor Lounge.

2019 Porter Fund Literary Prize Awarded To Qui Nguyen

Arkansas playwright and screenwriter Qui Nguyen is the recipient of the 2019 Porter Fund Literary Prize. The Porter Prize is presented annually to an Arkansas writer with a substantial and impressive body of work that merits enhanced recognition. Past winners of the Porter Prize include Mara Leveritt, Morris Arnold, Kevin Brockmeier and Jo McDougall, the current Poet Laureate of Arkansas. The $2,000 prize makes it one of the state's most lucrative as well as prestigious literary awards. Eligibility requires an Arkansas connection.
