Emmy, Grammy, and six-time-Tony-Award-winning Broadway star, Audra McDonald, will headline the Theatre Under The Stars Gala 2020 at The Omni Houston Hotel on Saturday, March 28 at 6:30pm.

I first saw ELF when TUTS produced it back in 2013, and last year I had the absolute joy of working on a production of it at Queensbury Theatre. I'll be honest, it was a challenge for me to set aside my past experience with the show in order to see it with fresh eyes, giving myself a fair chance to experience a different cast, choreo, and designs from a reviewer's perspective. Setting aside my personal experiences with ELF, I found that this production reminded me of the things I loved most about it in the first place-the humorous quips written into the dialogue, the undeniably jolly holiday spirit, and the snappy songs that inevitably get stuck in my head.

ELF, the musical has become a traditional holiday favorite in the Bayou City and we are excited to see this whimsical story made popular by the movie starring Will Ferrell. ELF the musical has music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin and is based on the New Line Cinema Film written by David Berenbaum. This production is directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) and Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Kinder HSPVA) announced a new partnership today that will provide theatre students at Kinder HSPVA with a four-year comprehensive musical theatre education.

From July 20th- 26th, the Broadway Dreams UNPLUGGED tour intensive is partnering with Theatre Under the Stars to bring top-notch, tailored theatre training to the students of Houston through collaboration with Broadway professionals.

In conjunction with their 50th Anniversary Season, Theatre Under the Stars has introduced Public Works Houston, a program designed to serve their mission of impacting lives beyond the stage through thoughtful community outreach. Broadway Dreams kicks off Unplugged, the 2019 Summer Intensive Tour in Atlanta, GA, followed by five U.S. cities, Calgary, Canada and Europa Park in Rust, Germany. In each location, Broadway Dreams will present an incredible roster of top Broadway directors, performers, and industry insiders who will offer highly personalized musical theater training through week-long intensive workshops for students of all ages, skill levels, and socio-economic backgrounds. At week's end, students will perform alongside their Broadway idols in a Broadway style revue open to the public.
