The MACC Presents Grammy winning singer, songwriter, and musician Corinne Bailey Rae in her return to Castle Theater, Friday, July 29, 2022. Known for her global hits including Put Your Records On and Like a Star, she has recorded three studio albums and was a featured artist on Herbie Hancock’s Album of the Year Grammy winning River: The Joni Letters.

Chandler Center for the Arts has announced its initial shows for the 2022/23 Season. Advanced tickets are on sale to Members of the Chandler Center for the Arts ($50 and above) through April 28, with individual tickets going on sale on various dates in April and May.

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae announced today that her first solo headlining tour in more than five years will include a one-night-only performance at Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theater on Friday, July 15, 2022. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced further details for this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards Weekend taking place across 10 and 11 April at the Royal Albert Hall including awards presenters confirmed to take part, musical performances and special appearances across both nights by BAFTA President, HRH The Duke of Cambridge.

Additional upcoming female performances include interdisciplinary performing artist Arielle Rosales, electro pop artist La Force, soul queen of New Orleans Irma Thomas, and reggae label VP Records founder Miss Pat.

There is a definite relationship between rap and jazz. Musicians improvise with notes. Rappers improvise with words. Many of the great hip-hop recordings featured samples from some of the greatest jazz albums. So it should be no surprise that there are rappers who are not only comfortable in post-bop sonic settings, but can also deliver some swinging verses themselves. The result of this fusion of styles, motifs, and genres is a corps of instrumentalists who are influenced by rappers, who in turn, are influenced by musicians.
