Chance Theater Announces Season 23

Chance Theater is making a commitment to the Southern California community in 2021 -- it will produce five shows with local artists during its 23rd Anniversary Season. There will be no cancellations. The shows will be performed either in-person or on a virtual platform. Therefore… “No Risk. All Chance.”

Hangar Theatre Company Presents Free Virtual KIDDSTUFF Shows

The Hangar Theatre Company will present its lively summer theatre series for young audiences, KIDDSTUFF, from June 13 to July 25, 2020. All will be presented live and virtually. Each show will be directed by Hangar Drama League Directing Fellow alumni, and performed by the 2020 Virtual Lab Company, a troupe of rising artists from across the nation.

Musical Theatre Of Anthem Presents THUMBELINA

Musical Theatre of Anthem announces a virtual production of Thumbelina, a sung-through musical based on the classic Hans Christian Anderson fairytale. All youth between the ages of 9-18 will be cast for this production. European Creative Team of Lyricist Maxine Gallagher and Composer Chris Seed are generously donating back their royalties to MTA so we can bring Thumbelina to you!  This is a virtual production with virtual auditions and performances.

“This—something, life and...breath?” my friend read as she tried to decode my jumbled mess of notes while I drove us home from the show. “Oh no,” I answered, 'that says, 'This musical lives and breathes.” That short phrase is the most indicative of my experience at ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, a show whose movement, melodies, and people formed together before us, seemingly as a new animate creature. A tale of “two worlds never meant to meet”, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND delivers a 90-minute sung-through litany of joyous song, dance, and storytelling.

Something To Aim For Presents First Season: ART IN ACTION

New strategic arts initiative Something to Aim For, which supports artists with lived experience of discrimination creating socially engaged work, has announced its first season including works from international cabaret icon Le Gateau Chocolat and radical performance artist FK Alexander. From self-destruction to self-expression, from isolation to austerity, the artists tackle pressing social issues with their own distinctive performance styles including cabaret, performance art and grime and rap.

THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL Will Make its Off-Broadway Premiere

YAYA KIDS THEATER and TING WANG have announced New York Premiere production of the musical THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL, directed and choreographed by the award-winning Greg Ganakas. Based on the story by Hans Christian Anderson, with book by Oxygen Media, lyrics and additional book by Jeff Edmond and music and musical direction by Alastair William King, THE LITTLE MATCH GIRL will play a two-week limited engagement at Off-Broadway's St. Luke's Theatre (308 West 46th Street, NYC). Performances begin Thursday, February 13 and continue through Sunday, February 23. Opening Night is Saturday, February 15 (2 p.m.). Raven Theatre to Present Chicago Premiere of a New Adaptation of A DOLL'S HOUSE

Raven Theatre will continue its 2019-20 season with a revival of Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece A DOLL'S HOUSE, in a vibrant and progressive new adaptation making its Chicago premiere. Directed by Lauren Shouse, the new work features translation by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and adaptation by Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. A DOLL'S HOUSE will play February 6 - March 22, 2020 on Raven's 85-seat East Stage, 6157 N. Clark St. (at Granville) in Chicago.
