La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club announces its 62nd Season and its RADICAL ACCESS INITITATIVE (RAI), an expansion of La MaMa's local and global network that increases outreach to new artists and audiences beyond the four walls of La MaMa's three theatres and new Community Arts Space.

La MaMa – one of the first major theatres in the U.S. to present contemporary puppet artists and their work on its mainstages – will begin its 60th season with the celebrated, biannual LA MAMA PUPPET SERIES from September 29 to October 24 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre and Downstairs Theatre.

The Tony Award-winning theatre has announced a fresh season of work – on its various stages in the East Village - that explores new rituals of our time from a multiplicity of perspectives and speaks to the epic changes of the 21st century.

Inspired by the continued success of the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry's 48 Hour Puppet Film Project and building on the communities formed by the 2020 Micro-Commission cohort and participants of the Puppet Filmmaking workshop series, Handmade Puppet Dreams is launching this second series of micro-commissions.

Do you want to play a game? Well Shakespeare's faeries and mystical creatures are upset because last year The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company only produced one show and it wasn't even a comedy! To make up for this, they are magically forcing four of mortal actors from NYC to play a chaotic game where they must perform the roles of the Four Lovers and the Rude Mechanicals from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'! It will be a night of theatrical chaos full of music, laughter and dance!

Midnight Radio Show presents: Enchanted Shadows! at the Gene Frankel Theater, a science fiction fairytale shadow puppet musical!

The Enchanted Revolution -- written, directed by and featuring the multifaceted creative enchantress, Charlotte Lily Gaspard for Midnight Radio Show -- is 80 minutes of magic, with a six-person cast creating a modern fairytale for the whole family from another dimension in a basement black box theater located in the heart of the East Village at Theater for the New City.

Theater for the New City invites audiences to behold The Enchanted Revolution. 'The Resistance' has located a vulnerability in an oppressive regime on the planet Sha. Princess Yazmaya fights to return all power to the people, mermaids, fairies, dragons, unicorns and more. This timely nouveau-fairytale theater piece is brought to you by writer/director/performer Charlotte Lily Gaspard and the diverse and accomplished artists of Midnight Radio Show.

The 3rd annual Hip Hop Film Festival was held, fittingly, at the historic National Black Theatre founded by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer who moved to Harlem in 1968 and saw that the once vibrant neighborhood was suffering from a sense of hopelessness after the losses of African American leaders Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and desperately needed a community space and cultural arts institution that would 'be reflective of the power, grace and excellence of a people' (according to her daughter and current CEO Sade Lythcott).

January 13, 2018, with an added performance on MLK Day, January 15th. Adapted for the stage by Jerome Hairston, with music by Victor Zupanc, the show is inspired by four of Keats' most beloved stories, including the 1963 Caldecott Award-winning The Snowy Day. The show celebrates the wonder of childhood in the city - from making tracks in the freshly fallen snow, to learning how to whistle, to imagining new worlds with a best friend who lives across the hall - these small moments of delight and joy are captured beautifully. Incorporating shadow puppets, songs, mime and humor, the 45 minute show for children will appeal to all ages.

The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company, under the artistic direction of Thomas R. Gordon, presents its third and final production in its "dreams" season - August Strindberg's A DREAM PLAY at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street, Manhattan) with performances beginning November 7 prior to an official press opening of November 10 and running through November 17.
