Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater will present a lineup including Karen Akers, Yellowjackets, The Hot Sardines, Ben Allison, and Billy Stritch Trio, alongside returning acts like Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks.

Cassie Donegan, this year’s Miss America, is launching a full-tuition scholarship to the IAMT Summer Intensive beginning this year. The scholarship will be awarded annually to one lucky student of Donegan’s choosing.

Waitress is directed by Cape Playhouse Artistic Director Eric Rosen and will feature Broadway stars Stephanie Torns (who has led several companies of the show), Caitlin Houlahan, Soara Joye-Ross,  and John Riddle. The Cape Playhouse will continue its 98th summer season with the Tony nominated musical WAITRESS, with book by Jessie Nelson and original music and lyrics by six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles.

Playing Davida's sisters (who function as the show's narrators) are Cassie Donegan of Nashville, Tennessee as Abigail and Gabriela Gonzalez (a sophomore at Winthrop University) of Charlotte, North Carolina as Zeruiah.

The online concert premiere of the new musical Sticks & Stones will feature a star-studded cast including Audra McDonald, Javier Muñoz and George Salazar when it premieres Friday, October 16, 2020, as part of National Bullying Prevention Month. The stream benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Born This Way Foundation.

STICKS & STONES, a new musical with music by Grammy/Emmy winner John McDaniel (The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Catch Me If You Can, Annie Get Your Gun) and book/lyrics by Scott Logsdon (Les Misérables, Joyce Jackson's Guide to Dating) was given a private reading/presentation on Monday, February 25th at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Miller is rather insanely talented and any director worth her or his salt would be deliriously happy to have the serious triple threat in any show on their drawing board.

For plenty of fast-paced action, along with some stellar performances by a fresh-faced cast of eager young theatrical triple threats and a coterie of Nashville stage favorites, one need look no further than Disney's Newsies, the latest onstage offering from Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, the iconic Music City venue that's been entertaining audiences for more than half a century. In its way, The Barn (as it is affectionately known in these parts) and its laudable history ensure that its treatment of the popular musical theater title lend the show's historical basis more than a little gravitas in the making of a stage spectacle.

Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, Nashville's iconic professional theater, opens its 2018 season - its 52nd! - with an entertaining, if somewhat overly long, production of Disney's Freaky Friday, the new musical with a starry musical theater pedigree.
