Interview: James Mirrione of THE GRIPPE at Main Street Theater

James Mirrione, the bookwriter behind The Grippe, invites audiences to revisit a pivotal moment in history through the lens of theatre. Inspired by the overlooked story of the 1918 Spanish Flu and its striking parallels to contemporary society, Mirrione combines rigorous historical research, personal family history, and music of the era to craft a play that is both enlightening and emotionally resonant.

Review: ALL MY SONS Is Powerful As Ever at Elmwood Playhouse

For anyone who appreciates riveting theater robustly staged, All My Sons should be on your must-see list. Here’s something else to consider as to why we owe homage to this timeless work: As he embarked on writing All My Sons, young Arthur Miller still hadn’t tasted the success he sought in his career. He considered it his last-ditch effort to make a name for himself or he’d give up playwriting. The moral of the story is that were it not for the success in 1947 of the award-winning All My Sons, we might never have had, two years later, Death of a Salesman. Shudder the thought.

Review: INCIDENT AT VICHY at Theatre Southwest

INCIDENT AT VICHY is a lesser-known work by the legendary Arthur Miller in which nine men wait in a quiet detention room in Nazi-occupied France, unsure why they’ve been taken, what’s coming next, and who will be spared. As questions swirl and suspicions rise, a chilling truth emerges: the arrests are not random.

Review: DRIVING MISS DAISY at Fulton Theatre

While Driving Miss Daisy will never match the stagecraft extravaganza of an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical nor the plot complexities of Arthur Miller, it is very effective at what it does.

Review: INTO THE WOODS at Wisteria Theater

Bold, fresh, relentlessly entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny, Into the Woods is a special treat.  I loved every second of its delicious sense of irony, its glorious Y2K, Toys “R” Us aesthetic, and its fun-loving playfulness, with visionary direction and design from Brayden Hade.

Arthur Miller's THE CRUCIBLE Comes to the Bridewell Theatre

Sedos will present the Tony Award-winning classic The Crucible at the Bridewell Theatre next month. Arthur Miller's thrilling dramatisation of the Salem Witch Trials tells the story of one of the darkest episodes of American history, when accusations of witchcraft spread like wildfire.
