The past month came with many announcements regarding stage-to-screen news! In casting news, The Little Mermaid casting continues to go underway, with reports that Javier Bardem will play King Triton. Not only do we have the film to look forward to, but it was also announced that ABC will air The Little Mermaid Live! with Auli'i Cravalho and Queen Latifah. The highly-anticipated Cats film trailer was released, and a film adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was announced!

YouTube's biggest personality turned K-pop star, Wengie, announced today that she released her toy line of products named, Whimsical by Wengie that will be sold at Target, the biggest retail giant in the United States with over 1,800 stores nationwide. The line will consist of products that Wengie is best known for by her worldwide fan base known as “Wengiecorns”, who love her for her prank and slime videos.

Further to performing to a jam-packed audience at the John Peel stage at Glastonbury Festival and announcing her hugely anticipated debut album 'Love & Compromise' last month, breakout star Mahalia has unveiled the stunning visual to accompany her summer single 'Simmer' which features Nigerian star, Burna Boy. Directed by KC Locke, the visual was shot in London and showcases Mahalia glowing with confidence - all while Burna Boy attempts to defend the male's perspective.

In casting news, The Little Mermaid cast Halle Bailey as Ariel in the upcoming live-action Little Mermaid film and Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of The Prom on Netflix has cast Meryl Streep and James Corden in lead roles. Amy Sherman-Palladino announced she is writing the script, as well as directing, the Gypsy film remake and Kinky Boots is heading to Broadway HD!

The second and final wave of TEEN CHOICE 2019 nominees have been announced and “Stranger Things” leads with six nominations. “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” “Murder Mystery” and “The Last Summer” are the front-runners in film with three nominations each. Music artist Shawn Mendes tops the music category with three nominations.

On Monday night, 16 Broadway stars were featured in Broadway Sings Ariana Grande, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series at Sony Hall. The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. On July 29, the series will continue with its spinoff concert, Unplugged, in which Alanis Morissette will be honored at The Green Room 42.

On Friday, June 28 at 12:00 Noon, 77th Street & 37th Road, Jackson Heights, Queens, NY, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) will present the second event of the 2019 season of BROADWAY IN THE BOROS, a series of free outdoor lunchtime musical performances featuring cast members and musicians from Broadway's current hit shows.

Indonesian rapper Rich Brian returns today with “Yellow” featuring Bekon, a song inspired by the stories of Asian youth and immigrants around the world. “Yellow” is produced by Bekon & The Donuts (Kendrick Lamar's “DAMN.,” SZA's “Garden”), exclusively distributed through 12Tone Music LLC and is the first single from Brian's forthcoming second album, The Sailor, due outJuly 26.
