MasterVoices has announced details of the celebrated chorus’ 82nd season, celebrating the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941.

MasterVoices will conclude its 2022-23 season on May 3 at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium with a concert staging of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera Iolanthe, directed and conducted by Ted Sperling.

A stellar cast brightens a Romberg favorite. Operetta, as a genre, arose in the 1850's and swelled into a widely beloved form of entertainment. In America its chief luminaries were Sigmund Romberg, Victor Herbert, and Rudolf Friml. From the 1920's to the '40's the modern musical gradually drove operettas from the stage (except for the happily undying works of Gilbert & Sullivan). And I miss them! So I greatly approve of Winter Opera's offering us this old piece.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra will present a bold and daring evening of Dvořák Masterworks, featuring his love letter to America, Symphony No. 9 in E minor: “From the New World” as well as Cello Concerto in B minor, the greatest of all cello concertos, performed by Grammy Award-winning artist Zuill Bailey - who also appeared during the Symphony's inaugural concert 25 years ago.

MasterVoices continues its eclectic 2022-23 season on March 23 at Central Synagogue with Ted Sperling leading O How Good, a performance of Jewish sacred music. The program includes two beloved works of traditional Jewish liturgy set by master composers – Ernest Bloch's Sacred Service and Kurt Weill's Kiddush – as well as the world premiere of And the Sun Goes Up, a new work by Israeli-American composer Daniel Rein, commissioned by MasterVoices.

Opera Orlando has announced four singers joining the company’s Studio Artist program in the Company’s 2022-23 Opera Everlasting season. The artists are Sara Lucille Law, soprano; Raphaella Medina, mezzo soprano; Robert Hartfield, tenor; and Geoffrey Peterson, lyric baritone.

Victor Herbert Renaissance Project LIVE! is set to present Mlle. Modiste, the 1905 Operetta. The show plays from April 26th-27th at 7:30 PM and features The New Victor Herbert Orchestra. All performances take place at The Theater at St. Jeans, 150 East 76th Street, at Lexington Ave.

On January 22nd, the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra begins the second half of its 76th Classic Concert season with American Voices, an evening of musical stories by American composers.

The season will be comprised of some of the most beautiful music ever composed, from the salons of Vienna to the stages of Tin Pan Alley, from the damnation of Don Giovanni to the celestial grandeur of Jupiter.

Proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Southern Theatre opened on September 21, 1896, as a “modern,” jewel box-style opera house, offering performances from some of the greatest names of the theatrical world and a new genre called Broadway.
