A PNW transplant via NYC, Valerie became an official Seattleite appearing in Macklemore’s Next Year music video. An alum of Barnard College, Studio 5, Completely Ridiculous Conservatory, she has also held fellowship with Lucid Body House in NYC. Valerie is a certified Artistic Mental Health Practitioner, excited to help build healthy creative spaces so artists can do their best work

Review: HELLS CANYON at 12th Ave Arts

What do we mean when we say someone is “like family”? In Washington Ensemble Theatre’s Hells Canyon, playwright Keiko Green takes that question and reveals the complicated debts, histories, and power dynamics hiding underneath. Directed by Amber Tanaka and now running at 12th Ave Arts through September 21st, Hells Canyon is a taut, genre-bending piece examining what haunts us that blends horror and psychological drama with real emotional teeth.
BWW Review: THE NERD at Taproot Theatre

Larry Shue’s raucous comedy “The Nerd” was a staple of midrange to small theaters all over back in the 80’s and 90’s. It was zany, smart, and didn’t require too many outlandish elements. So, I was fairly excited to catch this new local production currently being offered at Taproot Theatre, especially with the people in the cast. However, I’m not sure if the show is just not that funny anymore or if this production missed the mark but, while still having some definite gut buster moments, much of it fell flat.
