BIO

Ron Campbell has done everything from playing the lead clown in Cirque du Soleil's Kooza, creating chef Cecil B. DeGrille for Teatro Zinzanni to playing R. Buckminster Fuller in The History and Mystery of the Universe. He has played 38 characters in The Thousandth Night, 28 characters in A Tale of Two Cities and 21 characters in The Dybbuk. A seasoned Shakespearean, Ron has played Richard the Third, Don Quixote, Sherlock Holmes, Albert Einstein, Cyrano de Bergerac and Vladimir in Waiting for Godot.


Ron trains and teaches at Soar Feat Studios in Emeryville, California and holds a fourth degree black belt in the martial art of Iaido (Japanese sword.)

Ron has been teaching workshops and classes like Fail Better for variety of groups, including a maximum security lock up for the criminally insane to professional theatre companies (Cirque du Soleil, West Coast Ensemble, The Actor’s Gang, Singular Productions, The International City Theatre, California Shakespeare Theatre, Marin Shakespeare Company among others), high schools (Coronado High School of the Performing Arts and the Southern California Educational Theatre Association) and centers for the developmentally disabled.

Ron started it all working as a street performer in Europe, doing mime and clowning in places like Piazza San Marco in Venice The Place de Georges Pompadiou in Paris and The Piazza Navona in Rome, Campbell became a founding member of The Actor's Gang and Artistic Associate of The Los Angeles Theatre Center. With more than 150 productions to his credit, Campbell has received some of the most coveted theatre awards including The London Fringe One Man Show of the Year and both The Los Angeles and Bay Area Critic’s Circle Awards for Lead and Solo Performances, The Helen Hayes Award, The Jeff Award , 4 Backstage West Garland Awards, 15 Dramalogue Awards and The Fox Fellowship for Distinguished Achievement.

Ron has performed in many venues across the globe including The Royal Albert Hall, (London) The Fuji Dome, (Tokyo) The Habima and The Rebecca Crown (Israel) The ancient Theatres of Epidarus and Hydra (Greece) The Mark Taper Forum, The Los Angeles Theatre Center (Los Angeles) The American Conservatory Theatre, The Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Teatro Zinzanni , The Aurora Theatre, TheatreWorks (San Francisco) The Mercury Theatre, (Chicago) The Huntington Theatre, (Boston) The Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Intiman Theatre, (Seattle) The Metro Stage, (Washington D.C.) The San Diego Repertory Theatre and The Old Globe and the Old Red Lion in London.
