PlayPenn and Philadelphia Theatre Company collaborate on a development workshop for a new play by acclaimed playwright Ty Defoe.

Founded in 2005, PlayPenn has entered its 19th year of operation.  This season also marks the third since the organization's resurgence. What did our critic think of THE PRIDE OF LIONS at Theatre Rhino? The trans community is saying “enough is enough.” They will not be the sacrificial lambs to hatred, bigotry, and discrimination. Roger Q. Mason’s The Pride of Lions is a story of taking action against oppression and standing up to ignorance. That it’s set in 1928 makes it even more prescient to today’s movement. It opens with a man-on-man sex scene, beautifully staged behind a sheer curtain with careful lighting – a revolutionary and highly illegal act in 1928.

Theatre Rhinoceros will present the world premiere of non-binary playwright Roger Q. Mason's boundary-breaking play The Pride of Lions. The Pride of Lions is directed by Ely Sonny Orquiza, stars seven Bay Area actors, and is supported by a creative team of both local and Southern California design talent.

The New Victory Theater and The 24 Hour Plays have partnered for Speak Up, Act Out: Celebrating Student Voices, a creative writing program aimed at uplifting student writers and their work. New York City students in grades 5 through 12 are encouraged to submit applications by February 25.
