On October 25, 1991, Toronto’s Casey House hospice welcomed a beloved guest of honour: Diana, Princess of Wales. Nick Green’s play, Casey and Diana, offers a poignant glimpse into the lives of two Casey House patients over the seven days leading up to the now-famous event.

by Amanda Barnum - Mar 13, 2026
Every so often, we encounter stories so powerful that they remind us of the fragility of our human lives. BWW Review: CASEY AND DIANA at Unicorn Theatre
by Andrew Burrill - Feb 3, 2026
Casey and Diana, now running January 28 through February 15, 2026, is a luminous, heartbreaking, and deeply necessary work of theatre. Written by Nick Green and originally commissioned by the Stratford Festival of Canada, the play was developed to honor the real-life visit of Diana, Princess of Wales, to Toronto’s Casey House AIDS hospice in 1991—a moment that quietly but irrevocably reshaped public understanding of HIV/AIDS, compassion, and human dignity.

THE LAST TIMBIT isn’t here for a long time; after all, doughnuts go stale quickly. It’s here to be an Experience, and an Experience it is.
Review: CASEY AND DIANA at Soulpepper
by Ilana Lucas - Feb 13, 2024
Green’s play is a terrific achievement; its urgent structure, indelible characters, and alternately witty and wrenching dialogue make it a highlight of this or any theatre season. But what really stands out is its great, gentle humanity in how it treats all its characters, fragile people just trying to reach out and grab hold of each other.
