Michael Markham BIO

Michael Markham is a SAG, AEA actor based out of New York City. His favorite roles in New York include Platonov in The Spectacular Demise of Platonov at Shapiro Theater; Giant in Giants at HERE; and The Singing Soldier in Mother Courage and Her Children at The New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park. Film and television include Law and Order; Unearthed, which has played at The Tallahassee and Macon Film Festivals; Game Theory at the Festivus and Bare Bones Film Festivals; and Blind Date, which recently aired on BET.

Regionally he has performed in A Little Night Music, Hamlet, the title role in Julius Caesar, and The Ibsen Project: A Lonely Light.

Michael graduated from the Juilliard School Drama Division, and has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Acting from Washington University in St. Louis.

Michael grew up in Montpelier, VT but has lived in 7 different states throughout his life. He currently resides in Central Harlem with his wife, Karen, and their 3 cats, with what they like to think is the biggest backyard in Manhattan; with a hammock and a lawn to mow, that’s not just boasting.

Michael is also an avid photographer, videographer, and supporter of arts education through an organization called ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty). Look them up at www.asteponline.org Through ASTEP Michael has taught drama to kids in camps from Bronxville, to Florida, to South Africa. His photography has been seen at 1359 Broadway in the summer of 2010 and on the side of 410 West 40th St. in October of 2011. He has produced and directed several shorts for Kite Monkey Productions and Redeemer Presbyterian Church.

Taking the gender parity problem head-on New York Madness is bringing to the stage a Special All-Women writers and directors edition of their short play festival, a mainstay of NYC's Indie Theater Community. Team Awesome Robot to Present RUSH
