Lori Hammel performed on Broadway and in the National Tour of Mamma Mia! the First National Tour of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 and played Ethel Mertz in the National Tour of I Love Lucy Live.Off Broadway productions include Unbroken Circle, The Bardy Bunch (as Carol Brady), I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Bush is Bad. In the hit Off Broadway production Forbidden Broadway, Lori created endearing comedic impersonations of Broadway’s finest performers and can be heard on the original cast album. She performed Forbidden Hollywood in Singapore and Japan.
Film work includes playing a morning show host in the Coen brother's feature Burn After Reading; An Invisible Sign; She's Lost Control (2014 Berlin Film Festival, SXSW), playing the lead in Coney Island Queen (2014 Cannes Shorts Corner) and the thriller Rapid Eye Movement starring François Arnaud.
TV includes Master of None, The Following, 30 Rock, Difficult People, The Colbert Report and the Today Show. Lori played recurring political pundit Leslie Hillerman on the Onion News Network series, In The Know. In 2015 she received an Excellence in Acting Award at the NY Fringe Festival in Gary Apple’s Hell is for Real. She is the recipient of a Jeff Award, two Jeff nominations and two After Dark Awards.
Lori is the 2014 recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Joseph C. Riley Service Award. She co-authored the critically acclaimed guidebook Minding the Edge – Strategies for a Fulfilling, Successful Career as an Actor (2012 Waveland Press) and is a contributing writer for Acting for the Stage (2017 Focal Press).

Urban Stages Theater is presenting the first public reading of LEAVE THE CANNOLI, the latest play by Gary Apple as part of their 'New Year, New Plays' series, LEAVE THE CANNOLI is a comedy set in the world of The Godfather and tells the unknown story of how the horse head ends up in the movie producer's bed. Though everyone knows that iconic scene, the film never explains how the horse head actually got there. Playwright Apple, known for his twisted tales, decided to speculate on how it might have happened.
