LORI HAMMEL GETS REAL – One Woman Show Comes to NYC This Month

Lori Hammel GETS REAL, a one-woman show written and performed by Lori Hammel, is being presented July 13th and 20th at 6:30 at Actors Connection (630 9th Avenue, 14th Floor New York City, NY 10036).

Lori Hammel is going to clean out her purse and it's going to be EPIC!! Join Lori as she attempts to stop being a big PHONY and gets REAL in this one-hour comedy event. There will be some singing, some truth telling and a whole lot of laughter as Lori comes clean and reveals herself thru stories from her past and the unexpected surprises she finds at the bottom of her purse.

Lori Hammel Gets Real is written and performed by Lori Hammel and directed by Kristine Zbornik. Show times: 6:30 pm Friday, July 13th and 6:30 pm Friday, July 20th. Running time: 60 minutes. Tickets are $10 and available at: EVENTBRITE

Lori Hammel - Writer/Actor: Lori Hammel made her Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! National tours include I Love Lucy Live as Ethel Mertz, Dolly Parton's 9 to 5: The Musical (1st National); Mamma Mia. Off Broadway credits include the world premiere of the family drama Unbroken Circle; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Forbidden Broadway and as Carol Brady ala Lady Macbeth in The Bardy Bunch. Lori has a long association with Tony Award-winning Forbidden Broadway including the Off Broadway company, productions in Singapore and Japan, performing as a soloist with the Hartford and Syracuse Symphonies and the original cast album. Regional includes: The Bikinis at Long Wharf Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, Mamma Mia! at Pittsburgh CLO and the world premiere of the drama Handicapped People in their Formal Attire at Premier Stages. Awards include: 2015 Excellence in Acting Award at NY Fringe Festival; Jeff Award and two After Dark Awards.

TV: Master of None, 30 Rock, The Following, The Colbert Report, As the World Turns and The Today Show. Film: Ethan and Joel Coen's feature Burn After Reading; Puzzle (Sundance 2018); An Invisible Sign; She's Lost Control (Berlin Film Festival, SXSW); Burning Up! (Katra Festival) and the title role in Coney Island Queen (Cannes Shorts Corner).

She played recurring political pundit Leslie Hillerman on the Onion News series In The Know. Lori created and starred in Margo Rose Reports as the clueless yet relentless NY2 reporter, Margo Rose Ferderer. Look for Lori on your TV currently playing opposite Keegan-Michael Key in a national commercial campaign for Rocket Loans.

Lori co-authored the critically acclaimed guidebook Minding The Edge: Strategies for a Fulfilling, Successful Career as an Actor (Waveland Press 2012) and is a contributing author for Acting for the Stage (Focal Press 2017). Lori is a frequent moderator for SAG-AFTRA Foundation panels and has interviewed casting directors, indie filmmakers and industry leaders in seminars for members of the acting unions.
