The Cape Playhouse, the longest-running professional summer theatre in the country, is excited to present an encore production of the four-time Tony Award winning musical, An American in Paris. Performances begin on July 26th.

Based on the book by Craig Lucas and inspired by the seven-time Academy Award-winning 1952 musical comedy film, An American in Paris brings the legendary music of George and Ira Gershwin to the stage from August 3rd -13th. Featuring such classics as “I Got Rhythm,” “S’Wonderful” and “Shall We Dance”, this marks the show’s debut performance on a Cape Cod theater’s stage. With a timeless story and unforgettable characters, audiences have something quite special to look forward to this August.

Eamon Foley spent his early years performing in Broadway shows, namely Stephen Sondheim’s Gypsy and Assassins when he was 9 and 10 years old. Now, as a director-choreographer, he is reimagining the Sondheim cannon with dance and cinematography as a response to the theater shutdown.

Drury Lane Theatre has announced casting for the final show in its 2019/2020 season, the Regional Premiere of the beautifully captivating Gershwin musical An American in Paris. Leading the cast are Josh Drake as American GI Jerry Mulligan and Leigh-Ann Esty as Lise Dassin. Drake can currently be seen on Broadway in Disney's Aladdin, and Esty returns to An American in Paris after playing the role of Lise on the show's national tour. This Tony Award-winning musical features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin with book by Craig Lucas and is directed and choreographed by Lynne Kurdziel-Formato. Dear Evan Hansen's Mike Faist has been cast as Riff of the Jets  in Fox's Steven Spielberg West Side Story film, according to Deadline. Puerto Rican singer and dancer Ana Isabelle will play Rosalia, a shark who works with Maria and Dance Moms' Maddie Ziegler has been cast as part of the Jets. They have also cast  over 40 performers set as Sharks and Jets!
