BIO
Langston Darby is an actor and all-around performer. He is the winner of the first Practical Aesthetics Scholarship to the conservatory at New York’s Atlantic Acting School, and a UCB Diversity Scholarship recipient. Langston is a native of Laurel, Mississippi, home to artists such as opera diva Leontyne Price, Parker Posey, and fictional Tennessee Williams’s heroine Blanche DuBois. Langston, namesake of Harlem Renaissance icon Langston Hughes, was drawn to acting by a childhood love of listening to his mother read poetry. Langston is a Mississippi School of the Arts and University of Southern Mississippi alumnus and is a former acting apprentice for Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Langston has performed with great companies in the Philadelphia area and is currently expanding his career in New York; his passion for performance is revealed in a quote from Carlyle Brown’s "The African Company Presents 'Richard III' “: I act to breathe air and give it back again...So that any man can see I am any man.”
