K. APRIL SOROKO – Scenic and Costume Designer. Off-Broadway: Napoleon: The Musical at NYMF, Mariage Blanc at Playwrights Horizons. Ms. Soroko was the resident designer at both Triad Stage and the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival. She is a member of USA Local 829 in both Scenery and Costumes and holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama. The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us some valuable lessons about life. When we are isolated, there will always be someone to turn to as our family in times of hardship, even if they are not blood relatives. Moreover, the people who hurt us in the past can still be there to help us heal. While Quiara Alegria Hudes' play Water by the Spoonful is set in 2009, its themes pertaining to addiction, loss, and developing interpersonal bonds still ring true in 2022. New City Players took on the challenge of staging Hudes' Pulitzer Prize-winning play with grace and respect.

Following last season's reinterpretation of Federico Garcia Lorca's classic The House of Bernarda Alba, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and the University of Miami's Department of Theatre Arts are partnering once again to present a fresh rock musical, GIRLS VS. BOYS, written by the creators of The Sparrow and Death and Harry Houdini - Chris Mathews, Jake Minton, Kevin O'Donnell and Nathan Allen of the renowned House Theatre of Chicago. Playing November 1 - 18, 2012 in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House), GIRLS VS. BOYS is a captivating, dramatic story about the struggles of teen life set to a rocking, soul-bearing score. The musical is part of the Arsht Center's Theater Up Close series in the Carnival Studio Theater which features artistic collaborations from stellar local theater ensembles and nationally acclaimed theater companies.
