The Audio Publishers Association (APA) have announced finalists for the 2022 Audie Awards. Finalists include Cynthia Erivo for Best Female Narrator and Lin-Manuel Miranda for Best Male Narrator. Leslie Odom Jr., Annie Golden, Telly Leung, and Jason Tam are also featured on audiobooks that made the list. Check out the full list of nominations now!

Painting With John, written, directed by and starring musician, actor, director and painter, John Lurie, has shared the season two trailer. The unscripted series will be available on HBO and to stream on HBO Max. Photographed and edited by Erik Mockus, Painting With John is executive produced by Adam McKay and Todd Schulman.

The Food Film Festival returns to New York City for its 12th straight year! From Wednesday, May 2 through Sunday, May 20, BAMcinématek presents A Different Picture: Women Filmmakers in the New Hollywood Era, 1967—1980. A counter-narrative to the traditional macho mythology of the New Hollywood era, this series seeks to correct a historical wrong. As programmer Jesse Trussell explains, “This series is a redress to the established Easy Riders and Raging Bulls narratives; women from coast to coast radically altering film form, film subject and film power structures.” This series spotlights the prodigious work of female filmmakers in the United States from 1967—1980; films made both inside and outside of the Hollywood system and encompassing a wide array of genres from comedy to drama, art house to exploitation.

Animus Theatre Company (Jonathan Judge-Russo, Founding Artistic Director), an artist-driven company whose mission is to explore and illuminate the resilience of the human spirit, is thrilled to announce that its 2018-2019 programming will kick-off this April with the New York premiere of Surfer Girl by acclaimed screen & playwright Leslye Headland (Assistance, Bachelorette). Somewhere Glimmer is the second album by Trio S - the acclaimed group helmed by clarinetist Doug Wieselman, featuring Jane Scarpantoni on cello and Kenny Wollesen on drums and percussion. When Trio S was formed in 1999, Wieselman wanted to create a band separate from his Kamikaze Ground Crew the band which he co-led and was his vehicle for his compositions starting in the '80's.

Five Boroughs Music Festival (5BMF) presents a concert by genre-defying string quartet Brooklyn Rider on Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Flushing Town Hall in Queens. The concert is the second performance in 5BMF's tenth anniversary season of bringing world-class, affordable chamber music to every borough in New York City.
