Jake Smith Appointed as New Artistic Director & CEO of Eastern Angles

Eastern Angles has announced the appointment of Jake Smith as their new artistic director and CEO. He succeeds Ivan Cutting who has been at the helm of the company for 40 years. In a unique first for an arts institution, both will work together until the end of the year as part of a handover to ensure the philosophy is carried forward into the next era of work.

He has also received nominations for Outstanding Director of a Play at the Outer Critics Circle Awards for "The Iceman Cometh." Additionally, he has been nominated for Best Direction of a Play at the Tony Awards for "Private Lives," "The Iceman Cometh," and "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." He was also named Director of the Year at the Olivier Awards for "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof," "The Secret Rapture," and "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" (RSC).

Howard Davies has won several awards for his work as a director. He has won the Best Director award at the Olivier Awards for three different productions: The White Guard, All My Sons, and The Iceman Cometh. In addition, he has also received the Outstanding Director of a Play award at the Outer Critics Circle Awards for his work on The Iceman Cometh.
