BIO
Fred Burrell, age 81, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at his residence. Born September 18, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of Max W. and Harriett M. (Doty) Burrell.
Mr. Burrell graduated from high school in Cedar Rapids and earned a bachelor’s degree in American History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following college, he immediately left the United States to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England, returning to New York City in 1960.
He was a professional actor, performing in plays on Broadway and Off-Broadway, including Judgement at Nuremburg, Inherit the Wind, Never Too Late, and Memorandum, in movies including Klute, Kinsey and We Own the Night, and in television on shows such as Law & Order.
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, 88th Street, and formerly served as business manager, a member of the Vestry and a staff member, retiring in 2001. Mr. Burrell was also a member of the Episcopal Actors' Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, and Actors' Equity.
