Due to the illness of The Right Kind of People's lead actor, playwright Charles Grodin will step in for tonight's and tomorrow's performances.  The show will play its last performance at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street) on Sunday, March 5th at 3 PM.

Directed by Chris Smith, the show's cast features Doris Belack, Stephen Bradbury, Fred Burrell, Mitch Greenberg, Keith Jochim, Katherine Leask, Ed Owens, Robert Stanton, Evan Thompson and John C. Vennema. Performances began Tuesday, January 24, 2006 for a limited engagement through March 5, 2006. Opening Night was February 9, 2006. The play, which virtually sold-out its entire run, will have given 16 previews and 26 regular performances.

The creative team includes Annie Smart (sets, with furniture pieces generously provided by Bloomingdale's New York), Jenny Mannis (costumes), Russell Champa (lights) and Fabian Obispo (sound). The Production Stage Manager is Emily Wells.

"The Right Kind of People by Charles Grodin is a biting send-up of a fashionable Fifth Avenue co-op board, where issues of race, gender and social status simmer just beneath the surface. This comedy, from the celebrated screen actor who made sarcasm and satire a legendary art, comes to Primary Stages following its world premiere at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, where it was one of the highest grossing shows in that theatre's 37-year history," state press notes.

Primary Stages and Bloomingdale's have formed a corporate partnership in celebration of The Right Kind of People. Bloomingdale's has donated furniture to Primary Stages to be used onstage as set pieces that represent rooms in various fashionable 5th Avenue apartment homes. A public furniture auction to help benefit Primary Stages, a non-profit theatre, will take place following the final performance of The Right Kind of People. Advance reservations for the auction will be necessary.
