BIO

Christina Maxwell, is an actress and singer based in New York City. This summer, she received "Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role" for originating the role of Laura Evans in SONATA 1962, featured in the New York Musical Festival. She also performed the role of Deanna Durbin in the New York City industry presentation of CHASING RAINBOWS, directed by Matt Lenz and choreographed by Denis Jones.



Christina graduated Summa Cum Laude from The University of Michigan with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre and a Minor in Writing. She is the recipient of the 2016 Actors' Equity Association/Alan Eisenberg Award.



Christina is a nationally renowned public speaker, published writer and Pediatric Oncology Arts Therapist. While at University of Michigan, Christina founded the university-sanctioned outreach program Music at Mott at Mott Children's Hospital, bringing music and healing to patients and families. Her program received global attention when a PR video produced by the hospital went viral, garnering over 3 million hits on Facebook. She currently works for the non-profit, RipRap, providing intensive one-on-one music and art-therapy sessions for pediatric oncology patients and their families in underserved parts of the New York City.



In 2012, Christina was named the Distinguished Young Woman of America (formerly America's Junior Miss), joining the ranks of women including Diane Sawyer and Debra Messing and traveling the country as the voice and face of the organization.

While at University of Michigan, Christina received the prestigious University Musical Society 21st Century Artist Internship, which allowed her to travel and perform with the world-renowned group Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan and serve as a cultural and marketing liaison between the group and the university. She continues to work on behalf of UMS to promote the importance of arts education funding, through public speaking, performance and development.
