Creative Pinellas Announces New ArtsUp Grant

Creative Pinellas announces the opening of a new funding opportunity for Pinellas County artists to showcase their work. The Creative Pinellas ArtsUp Grant is an exciting new project-based grant that provides support for visual, literary and performing artists interested in performing or exhibiting their work at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas.

"We are very excited about this new grant," says Barbara St. Clair, executive director of Creative Pinellas. "In addition to bringing people to the beautiful facility and grounds at Pinewood Cultural Park where the gallery is located, it also gives us a new way to showcase Pinellas County artists and bring free, quality art experiences to our visitors and residents."

Up to 12 grants of $1,000 each will be awarded to eligible artists, collaborative teams or arts organizations during the 2019 grant cycle, which ends Sept. 30, 2019. Grant funds are to be used for the production of a specific project, performance or exhibition to be presented to the public at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas or the surrounding grounds. Funds can be used for paying artists and performers, framing, transporting and hanging art, equipment rental, or any other cost involved in presenting the performance or exhibit. Funding will be awarded for work in the disciplines of live performance and visual arts, including: theater, dance, music, multimedia, spoken word, painting, photography, mixed media, sculpture, drawing, glass and interdisciplinary.

Exhibits and performances will be presented to the public as pop-up art experiences between Feb. 1, 2019 and Sept. 30, 2019 on dates and times to be determined and agreed to in advance by the grantees and Creative Pinellas.

"This is our first small, needs-based project grant," says Christopher Hubbard, Creative Pinellas programs manager. "Offered alongside our other artist grants, the ArtsUp program allows us to support both established and grassroots efforts and broadens the scope of projects we support throughout the year."

The online application period is currently open with rolling deadlines of Jan. 7, March 4, May 6 and July 8, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.
